If your current fw is TP-LINK stock firmware , you can flash openwrt from router CP web interface.

Hmm...

maybe I'm doing sth wrong... When I'm trying to flash openwrt-ar71xx-generic-tl-mr3420-v2-squashfs-factory.bin from http://openwrt.agromapia.com/firmware/aarc1/ then I've got:

Error code: 18005
Upgrade unsuccessfully because the version of the upgraded file was incorrect. Please check the file name.

Any ideas?

It maybe the header still shows 841v8 , it looks like the patch need addtional correction to show the header is for 3420v2.

Check for md5sums probably your file is incomplete or download file via box.com link.

All file is 100% field tested & Work + Enable upgrade via TPLINK factory firmware.

Right now,wan led is off when connected. But when LAN4 is connected, wan led can blink.Perhaps it is a bug from AA.

not bug if you plug lan1-4 wan led will turn/blin on not only lan4=> actually this is little mistake big_smile

change setting WAN LED:
from: eth1
to: eth0

then WAN LED will turn on/blink if you plug cable to WAN PORT smile

Hi anyone going to submit patches?
Thanks!

Hi,
I flashed my mr3420 v.2 without problems, but when i try to install ppp-mod-pptp for pptp connection there
is no memory space available on device. Is it possible to receive an image without 3g or usb support ?

Best Regards

Quickest way and most versatile is to just compile your own.

Hi,
I bought a TP-Link MR3220V2 last week and I flashed it with the build from this thread. I haven’t used openwrt before so I thought I would ask the forum about some network configuration hints. I want to use my MR3220 as a wifi dhcp client to an existing network. I plan to use it as a wireless “brain” to a USB project that I’m currently working on. I’m not interested in the switch ports of the MR3220V2. I tried to follow the guide for Routed Client Using MASQUERADE, since that seems to be one possible solution, but I couldn’t get it to work.

http://wiki.openwrt.org/doc/recipes/rou … masquerade

Does anyone on this forum have some tips on how to configure my router?

pd, I suggest you start a new thread.
Also, explain what went wrong and any error messages.
If you did something differently to the instructions in the link, mention that too.
The instructions are pretty clear.

Finished my memory mod on 3420v2 with Hynix HY5DU121622DTP-D43

Hi,
How can I reset my MR3420 V2 from openwrt to TP-Link firmware?
THX,
R

Download firmware: http://www.tp-link.com/Resources/softwa … 121206.zip (the filename contains "boot" & the size=4063744)
So
Cut the first 0x20200 (that is 131,584 = 257*512) Bytes from original firmware
Linux: dd if=orig.bin of=tplink.bin skip=257 bs=512 (source: http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/tl-wr1043nd )
Win: Hexedit will do.
Flash the stripped file (size=3932160)
Voila.

R

Hello. Two days ago I had setuped firmware fw-rel.3-prosum (openwrt-ar71xx-generic-tl-mr3420-v2-squashfs-factory).

Router Model TP-Link TL-MR3420 v2
Firmware Version OpenWrt Attitude Adjustment 12.09-rc1 - OpenWrtID / LuCI 0.11 Branch (0.11+svn9599)

After tplink firmware it's a dream. No one disconnect of YOTA ONE LTE modem.
All devices good working by LAN and wi-fi besides one android smartphone - SonyEricsson Xperia Active (4.0.1). Alltime it's disconnecting and connecting again (and phone battery ends after 5 hours:) ).
I  tried wpa2, wpa, wpa+wpa2, tkip, aes, auto, 1 channel, 9 channel. After googling, I try to set option wpa_group_rekey to '0' and to '3600' - no offect.

option wpa_group_rekey '0'

Hi, I bought this router, but h/w version on sticker is 2.1. As topic name is "TP-Link TL-MR3420 V2 (2.1)" can i use last firmware to flash my router?
Thanks!

I have TP-Link TL-MR3420 V2 (2.1) router. I have download and install  https://www.box.com/s/qebaprwq0798dyu19h1c/1/596285208. It is working perfectly. I can't  install ppp-mod-pptp for pptp connection I'm getting libc error.  and also space issue. my /tmp directory shows 14mb free. 1. can i add more space to root?
2. how to install ppp-mod-pptp

Thanks. Pls help me i'm new to openwrt.

/tmp is a RAM-disk, so everything stored in there will be lost on reboot. There are different ways to increase the space for the rootfs. The most convenient way is to connect an usb flash drive and use extroot (see the wiki for more information), but this might not the most stable solution. Other options are to replace the flash chip with one of a bigger capacity (mostly known as flash mod), but this requires at least the ability to backup a few partitions from the original flash to the replacement one. A third option is to connect a sd card to some free gpios (mmc over gpio are the key words).

Thanks for the information. I can configure extroot and have space. I need to install ppp-mod-pptp. plz help regarding this. It will ask libc dependance. But it has already installed.

make sure you are using the same packages as firmware. Get your firmware up to date and then run opkg update.
Then try installing the pptp kmod.

I am new here, but I managed to compile and install trunk on my MR3420-V1.3

After this success:
  - I apply the patch without any errors.
  - run make again
- the firmware for V2 was found in /bin
I use the V2 firmware to flash other MR3420 version  V2.1 and the router is bricked.

What I did wrong?

I just submitted patch to openwrt dev. #12748 please be patient.
