I'm trying to use my ASUS WL-500GP V1 as a Wifi Radio with the packages MPD and MPC.
MightyOhm discriped how to install all packages.
On his homepage he uses the ASUS V2 and everything is running fine.

The problem is that all versions of MPD are not running on any Openwrt distribution at the router V1.
I've tried any package version on Backfire, Kamikaze, Withrussian or /snapshots/trunk on any Openwrt distribution.
Several versions are missing in the download directories.

During the installation of MPD the directory /dev/dsp will not be created and filled with drivers for the USB soundcard.
MPC can't use the driver for the soundcard.
The result after starting MPC ist: Volume :n/a

Now me question is,
can anybody compile several versions of MPD for .../backfire/10.03.1/brcm47xx/openwrt-brcm47xx-squashfs.trx or .../backfire/10.03 or .../kamikaze/8.09.2/brcm47xx/ or anything else for me please?

And please, upload this packages for other users with the same problem ;-)

I hope I don't have to install Linux and lern how to compile only one package.
I'm only a stupid user not a developer.

well, /dev/dsp gets created, when the USB soundcard is plugged in. So, make sure that the driver for it is installed.

The USB sound card is plugged in during installation.
The LED of the USB Card is on but I can't get any sound.

MPC can't find the driver because /dev/dsp or sometimes /dev/sound/dsp is not created.

so, which kernel modules did you install?

and
.../backfire/10.03 or .../kamikaze/8.09.2/brcm47xx/
and
.../kamikaze/8.09.2/brcm47xx/ all versions
and
... /whiterussian/

I tried several combinations of openwrt versions and MPD or MPC.
Nothing works.

Backfire, kamikaze, whiterussian are all old.
trunk is bleeding edge type so may not actually work!
Attitude Adjustment is what you should be working with.
Install that. then opkg the mpc and mpd
