Talking n0obish: Is there any way to install them without opening the device for serial connection? Simply flashing the thing through the recovery interface didn't do it. Verification failed...

You mean i.e. to connect a vdsl or cable modem? With openwrt it should be possible by defining a separate network with vlan, i guess. Don't know if the switch already works properly for these devices, though.

By the way, I think yours ARV7518 has wifi, ethernet, voip and more (although voip does not seem to work with ya.com. I do not care about that.)
Can you let me know which version of uboot and openwrt are you using and which extra modules/packages you installed?

Hi.

Now is possible boot the CPU with all boot modes because I discovered where is bootsel1.

Bootsel1 is R77.

Shorting the pads of R77 enable bootsel1 to 1.

R77 is near to R80.

And for correct interpretation of the table see this:

Or maybe change X to Z.

@vpablos, I see the same capacitors, one of them has the tx and rx pins swapped, one is for a dte and the other for a dce? On a pc pin 2 is reception and pin 3 transmission, so the second picture seems right.
My arv7518 is in a box and I didn't touch it in a long time.

If you're not in a hurry, you didn't already buy the components and your computer has usb, I suggest to buy an usb to serial-ttl adapter from buyincoins or ebay.
It's cheaper than the components needed to build your own and guaranteed to work

As stated in the log, box has 64 MB RAM and 4 MB flash and reports to be ARV4518PW both in bootloader and openwrt boot log.

Any hint?

Update (2012-10-23): Box has SoC v1.3 instead of SoC v1.5 shown in aiuaya posts, might be the reason? Different gpio layout? Different mtd layout?

Anyway, someone at seguridadwireless.com told me that with newer versions of Openwrt correct memory address for kernel_addr is 0xb0020000 so I changed it in bootloader, saved with saveenv, rebooted, reflashed and tried again, with the following result (still more or less same error, although 'epc' and 'ra' values have changed.

I have enabled "Compile the kernel with symbol table information" so the output might be a bit more explanatory:

UPDATE
Thanks to blogic by the moment there is a woraround for Attitude Adjustment.

In file target/linux/lantiq/files/arch/mips/lantiq/xway/mach-arv.c
you have to do the following patch, but line is not 530 but 532 (as I remember):

Don't panic if you see strange output from the serial console starting at:

I guess for the moment until more development it is normal, although you'll get correct display from telnet/ssh.

I've enabled UART boot, send the uboot in http://www.cienti.com/arv4518pw/ (asc file) and uploaded to the router the bin file.
Finally I've uploaded the file openwrt-lantiq-danube-NONE-squashfs.image in
http://downloads.openwrt.org/attitude_adjustment/12.09-beta2/lantiq/danube/
by doing

Maybe the problem is that the kernel is flashed and loaded at the b0030000 address, which is right for Backfire, but in Attitude Adjustment the correct address is b0020000; I think the issue is this, but i'm not sure.

You must flash the ARV4518 image, not the NONE one.

and I got the result I copy below (really beautiful ... ;-) ).

I have two questions: I've installed uboot for arv4518 in http://www.cienti.com/arv4518pw/
since I needed loady (tftp/http did not work for the uboot in
http://downloads.openwrt.org/attitude_adjustment/12.09-beta2/lantiq/danube/
and it does not have loady support).

First is that I do not know why you need tftp/http when uploading with loady took me less than 10 mins. Do I need tftp/http for upgrading or something else?
Second is that, since uboot is for arv4518, am I loosing some switch activation needed by openwrt?

The serial load depends on the preferences of the user.
