Topic: Linksys WNR120N Serial Pinout

The content of this topic has been archived on 24 Apr 2018. There are no obvious gaps in this topic, but there may still be some posts missing at the end.

Hey everyone,

I've been looking around but haven't found it anywhere.  Probed around for a number of hours but couldn't find the correct configuration.

Anyone have a serial pinout for the Linksys WRT120N?

Here are some images of the board, plus two potential places for the terminals to be: http://imgur.com/a/EjqG5

I've tried the pinout for the WRT110 but no cigar (http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Se … sys_WRT110)

EDIT: Sorry, I typo'd the title of this thread.  It's a WRT120N, not WNR120N!

I'd go with the header on the bottom of the picture. Maybe you can provide a close picture of that one.

Are you referring to the first picture?  If so, here is a closer up of it: http://imgur.com/a/EjqG5#1

Additionally, I've been playing with the 2x7 header in the middle of the board and have found a number of configurations that basically provide a loopback.  Whatever I type in I get back out, but there is no interfacing with the actual device, and newlines just seek the cursor back to the beginning of the line (like a carriage return).  Can't find any working configuration so far, though

that jp3 looks promising. see, if the third and fourth pin from the top on the right side are tx/rx. to find gnd and 3.3V, measure (on the unpowered router) with a multimeter resistence between each pin and the ground plane or some 3.3V point. whenever the resistence is practically zero, you'll have found it. also, the top left pin looks suspicously like the 3.3V pin.

The discussion might have continued from here.
