Topic: connected to Dockstar through serial (please HELP with installation )

The content of this topic has been archived on 15 Apr 2018. There are no obvious gaps in this topic, but there may still be some posts missing at the end.

Hello

I'm connected to this Dockstar serial cable (that I made).
I'm root.
I would like to install Openwrt
I downloaded

openwrt-kirkwood-rootfs.tar.gz
openwrt-kirkwood-uImage

What is the simplest way to do the install?( there are many different suggestions there on the site,I;m not sure to pick the right one)

Here goes the log

I guess installing to 2nd stage bootloader is a pretty safe solution. Just follow the instructions on http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/seagate/doc … connection for either 2-stage bootloader or both.

Thank you very much.
I'll try it

For my Seagate DockStar, I replaced the existing uboot and configured it to first boot off of an external USB partition. This way, I can always put either an OpenWRT and/or Debian/Ubuntu to any USB memory stick for my Seagate DockStar to boot.

The discussion might have continued from here.
