undecided? ^^

can you take a very detailed picture of the board??

I keep asking why they have to change the best things when they are perfect (wr841nd V7.x) sad

can you EDIT the title correctly so people can find this (WR841N(D) V8.x)

because I make a mistake ... 32M Ram,I am sure!!

That RAM chip is 128MBits ie 16MBytes. Is there one on the back side of the pcb as well?

BUT, that chassis looks like the older square, not the newer rounded. Are that pictures your's or exactly like your's?

nice picture, but the model on the label is FW300R from Fastcom -.-

is that a china-clone of a chinese brand? XD

http://www.fastcom.com.cn/product-detail.asp?pd=3

it appears to have some relationship with tp-link....

Yes, the homepages of these three companies(TP-Link/Fastcom/Mercury) are found registered by the same person.
They may have relationship.
The hw of these three models(WR841ND v8  &  FW300R v3  & MW300R v3) is the same as far as I know.
And I bought one of these,   MW300R v3.

Hope some guys can make it possible that this hw can run with openwrt.

smile

how much was it cheaper than a WR841ND (possibly a V7.x)??

nebbia88 wrote:

half of this~~but 841V8 to be same hardware~

half??? omg
here wr841nd costs 28€ (40 USD)

what?? can't understand your question..

I don't want to give up~

Openwrt do not support yet?

I also got bad luck. Wishing to get a v7, I ordered a 841, instead, they sent me a v8...

Without replacing VxWorks, it's not likely to have OpenWrt installed. Also, AR9341 (AR9003) is not in the list of supported chipsets of ath9k.

If someone is willing to donate a WR841N to the developers then you may get it supoorted. The 16MB RAM issue shouldn't be insurmountable. Note that it also uses a much newer chipset, one that hasn't been given support in OpenWRT yet.

For my part, I have samples of the new TL-WR741ND (v4) and TL-WR703N arriving soon and I will be donating these to the developers straight away. These run the AR9331 chipset, so this may help here too.

Incidentally, I've had confirmation that the new TL-WR741ND will retain 4M flash and 32M RAM. So you may wish to look towards that device if you're unsure what version of the 841 you will get.

Thanks

Sam

wr741n v4 seems also uses AR7240 chipset
wr740n v5 uses AR9331 chipset

Hrm, my technical contact at TP-Link tells me the WR741ND v4 will use AR9331. Anyway, my sample should be arriving soon so I can check. He may be sending me v5, we will wait and see.

Interestingly, I have also been informed that the TL-WR841ND v4 will retain 32MB RAM & Linux for the international version, and it's only in the Chinese market where it has 16MB RAM & vxWorks.

Thanks,

Sam
