Topic: Multiple USB 3G Dongle

Hi,

I like to use multiple USB dongles, with a USB-HUB on TP-Link WR1043ND router. On stand alone every USB sticks are working right, but when I try to use them with ppp0, ppp1, etc /of course I using different ttyUSBX interface/, I can use only the first dongle, but not the others. (in syslog: Connect script failed, etc...) I want to use only one donge at a time, and want to switch between them, time, to time.

So my question is: what can I do, for working all USB dongles together?

Re: Multiple USB 3G Dongle

Write an usb hotplug script that symlinks the dongle to a known name, then confgure the device option of your 3g interfaces to that symlink.
See the last example here: http://wiki.openwrt.org/doc/techref/hotplug#examples

Re: Multiple USB 3G Dongle

Presently I use two 3G USB sticks. Both are recognized by openwrt and works flawlessly (Huawei E1750 and E372). Ive connected them through active USB hub. They are visible as ttyUSB0-2 and ttyUSB3-7. Ive created additional wan2 interface in LuCI (or manually in etc/config/network) than You need to configure firewall. I am activating them manually right now (in LuCI) but Ive already installed Multiwan and will try to use it as final solution.

Update: Ive updated wiki. Look at http://wiki.openwrt.org/doc/recipes/3gdongle#installing.multiple.3g.dongles

Re: Multiple USB 3G Dongle

could be sharing WIFI through built-in modem  router like E586 huawei, also up to 21Mbps for ref.  mobile2wifi.co.uk

Re: Multiple USB 3G Dongle

@Tomas - in this case it has nothing to do with 3G USB dongle because You need to properly configure WiFi in router. Its possible, and there are tutorials for this.
