Topic: Getting the password for a Inteno/Xavi XG6525p2

The content of this topic has been archived on 6 May 2018. There are no obvious gaps in this topic, but there may still be some posts missing at the end.

Hello,

For the past few days I have been trying to find out the telnet/web password for a Inteno/Xavi XG6525p2 (http://www.xavi.com.tw/Product.aspx?PLT … M=XG6525p2). I found a rs232 (read: serial) port and it let me interface with the bootloader. Login via the serial interface is not possible, possibly due to starting of their "bin/webs" program after rc.

I dumped the flash and managed to extract the romfs image. Telnet is kind to tell me that there is a user named admin, but the user doesn't exist in "/etc/passwd". Perhaps passwd is recreated by "bin/webs" since the nvram is empty.

I searched for something of a password in the binaries but couldn't find anything that worked. Now I turn to you guys. Hopefully someone can tell me the next step. The password must be somewhere, I mean it can't just create a user out of thin air.

Today, as a last resort, I tried to change the box's ip address through the voice menu (* it's a ata box *). I thought that it would at least store the ip address in the nvram, so I could understand how the variables were stored. Said and done, to my surprise not only did it store the ip address it also restored the nvram variables, all of them, including the password. Also it's nice to know they didn't bother to hash the password.

Now I have a question. Where are the nvram variables stored before they are copied to flash? I've heard that the boot loader might store them, in case the nvram would become empty.

Hi!

I have a problem with the same device. I got it froma friend and now I have to try to configure it. I have found on the net a manual. I have reset it and try to connect to it from my pc but it does not work.

I connect the WAN port from the XG6525p2 to the lan port of my pc. I set my pc to a fixed address for exemple 192.168.1.2 and then i try to open the web browser at the page 192.168.1.1 but it doe not work. The page gives me error.

I have tried everything. I have reset it a few times. Any idea how I can connect to it?

Thanks smile

Have you tried to connect to the LAN port of the XG6525 instead? See page 13 (Access the Web Configuration) in the XG6525 manual.

Yes.

Sorry I wrote wrong before. I wrote WAN but I meant LAN.
The cable goes from the LAN port on the XG6525p2 to the LAN port of my pc.

Thanks smile

No help? smile

Try to use the voice menu to set/get the ip address of the box.
