Topic: Backfire 10.03 - D-Link DSL-524T and PPPoE

The content of this topic has been archived on 7 Oct 2014. There are no obvious gaps in this topic, but there may still be some posts missing at the end.

Hello
I installed the firmware Backfire 10.03 (open-ar7-squashfs.bin) on my DSL-524T, but I don't know how configure the PPPoE WAN connection. Interfaces Eth0, Eth1 and Br-lan are up.

Sincerely.

Simply uncomment the appropriate lines and modify your VPI/VCI and password in /etc/config/network

## Example for ATM bridging.
## Useful for PPPoE or IP over ATM. Will create 'nas${unit}'
#
config atm-bridge
    option unit 0
    option encaps llc
    option vpi 8
    option vci 35
option payload bridged # some ISPs need this set to 'routed'

config interface wan
## PPPoE:
    option ifname nas0
    option proto pppoe

## PPPoA:
# option ifname atm0
# option proto pppoa
# option encaps llc
# option vpi 8
# option vci 35

## Both:
      option username "my_username"
      option password "my_password"

Thank you, I had not seen the network configuration page on wiki. (I use Operamini with an Edge connection.)

After changes in /etc/config/network :

config interface wan
option ifname nas0
option proto pppoe
option vpi 8
option vci 35
option username "my_username"
option password "my_password"

This does not work yet. I can not activate the Wan connection on the Network page. I forgot something ?

Sincerely.

Post the output of "logread" and "dmesg".

The problem is solved, this was due to a misconfiguration in /etc/config/network.

Here is my /etc/config/network file :

config interface loopback
        option ifname lo
        option proto static
        option ipaddr 127.0.0.1
        option netmask 255.0.0.0

config interface lan
        option type bridge
        option ifname eth0
        option proto static
        option ipaddr 192.168.1.1
        option netmask 255.255.255.0
        option nat 1

config atm-bridge
        option unit 0
        option encaps llc
        option vpi 8
        option vci 35

config interface wan
        option ifname nas0
        option proto pppoe
        option username "my_username"
        option password "my_password"

Thank you for your help.

Sincerely.

Hello to all.

I had kamikaze installed in a router D-LINK DSL-524T. ADSL sync was fine, at a maximum rate of 10237 bps for DS channel. When updated to backfire, sync rate was limited to 7658 bps. After some testing, in order to discard any problems with the physical line, I tried to use the old (kamikaze) version of avalanche firmware. I then copied the ar0700mp.bin from kamikaze and its corresponding simbolical link ar0700xx.bin to /lib/firmware. With this, backfire is able to sync again at 10237 bps. So, I  guess there is a problem with ar0700mp.bin firmware included in backfire. Can anyone confirm this?

These are the significative files in /proc/avalanche for both kamikaze and backfire:
