Topic: Cannot install luci packages on a DIR-825 B1

I am getting an error message when I attempt to install the packages for luci.

Specifically, when I enter the command - opkg install luci-admin-core

i get the message that luci-admin core is an unknown package.

Please note:

I have succesfully run the opkg update command and installed other packages.

I am using the 10.03 package installing via the firmware restore option.

The router seems to function fine, I just need to get the web inteface up and running.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

The DLink provided firmware is not getting it done and I'd really like to try this alternative.

Hi!

What is your package source in your opkg.conf (/etc/opkg.conf)? Luci doesn't exists in trunk.

I was actually having the same issue compiling from trunk (pre-made images are missing luci as well I see). Since I am completly new to this, what is the proper procedure for compiling from trunk but also getting luci built in? Thanks in advance!

Tried 10.03.1 RC3 and it included Luci. I had better luck installing the version for the firmware recovery method rather than the factory (DLink) firmware install utility method.

Thanks for the info on Trunk.

I have the same issue, what's wrong with luci now?

Hi i am having same issue,
upgraded via sysupgrade today cause i had different kernel module versions from opkg 2.6.32.16 and 2.6.32.20.
now my luci is gone sad
is there an easy way to get it back on? adding a new opkg source or do i have to create my own build system and create the packages ?

and finally got it working not sure if this is the correct way, but seems to work:

added
src luci http://backfire.openwrt.org/10.03/ar71xx/packages/
to /etc/opkg.conf
opkg update
opkg install luci
/etc/init.d/uhttpd enable
/etc/init.d/uhttpd start

similar to http://luci.subsignal.org/trac/wiki/Installation

I went with the Kamakazi distribution (10.03.1 RC3) and Luci installed and loaded just fine. Thanks for the information. Also, I had better luck with the Firmware Recovery method than I did using the DLink firmware intall utility. The router works great with exception of wireless N. When I turn it on, the wireless connections tend to drop internet connectivity (wired connecitons are fine). Disabling N and running G only cleared that up. It would be nice to see N speeds but I'll trade it for stable connections.

The discussion might have continued from here.
