Topic: Ralink AP SoC SDK

The content of this topic has been archived on 25 Apr 2018. There are no obvious gaps in this topic, but there may still be some posts missing at the end.

Someone posted the Ralink AP SoC SDK on the DD-WRT forum. I made a firmware from it and flashed my RT3052 based router, now the wireless performance almost doubled. Full duplex at around 70 Mbps, and half duplex extremely stable at exactly 98.6Mbps.

Would you tell me how to do this??

thanks!!

What router are you using? Taking a look at it and wasn't sure what router to get for testing.

I'm using an unbranded Ralink RT3052 single chipped router. I have plenty of them, different ones. They perform the same, so you just need to find one with a RT3052 chip.

Here is a link to one of them. Mine is an unbranded version of this Aceex NR22/Y.

I was turning up stuff like that, just trying to understand why it's unbranded. Is it just so new, or mainly produced overseas? I've never used Ralink equipment, would like to try something. I've tried to look up some info, but since you are making images from sdk does it support such things as hidden ssid/vap's/etc... or is that something that's only done with openwrt.

Thanks, and I assume normal packages from OpenWRT won't just "build" right into this SDK for usage on these devices? I'm just curious what modes of operation are supported on those device, like station/ap/adhoc etc.. The manual you linked to has some info in it, but I assume that's just bone stock firmware. I'll probably order the one you linked to or something like it.

Thanks

With DD-WRT it works as AP, AP Client, Adhoc, Repeater and Repeater Bridge. Only AP and AP Client in my firmware, but both modes simultaneously.

I forgot to mention that it also supports Wireless Distribution System (WDS).

Hi THG,

Thanks for your kind info.
Does this Ralink SDK build DD-WRT image or normal image.

I would like to run DD-WRT image on ralink RT3052 unbranded board.

thank you.

Nice.

If you're interested, the Fonera 2.0n is the same platform (RT3052). blogic has added support in OpenWrt, http://trac.fonosfera.org/fon-ng. Of course the wireless module is a precompiled binary, and the kernel is still 2.6.21, same as Ralink SDK.

Just FYI distributing that SDK with the Ralink source files for wifi is a violation of Ralink's license agreement. It's proprietary code...

The tar file is broken now, there is an error when i uncompressed it.

The discussion might have continued from here.
