Topic: Help flashing the D-Link DI-524

Hi, we are two friends triying to flash the D-Link DI-524 with Kamikaze, but we are newbies in all this.

We want to know the steps needed for flash this router with Openwrt.

As a first step we have been get information about the hardware, and get the source  codes (both, the Kamikaze and the D-Link's firmware).

There are the chips on the H/W ver.:B4 Rev.:G:

Main Processor: D-Link DL7500A (Atheros remarked?, Radio integrated?)
Switch: D-Link DL1005E
Flash: EON EN29LV800VB-70TCP (8Mbit)
SDRAM: EtronTech EM636165TS-7G (16 Mbit)

Last Firmware Rev.: 2.04, this is open source (http://www.dlink.co.uk/?go=jN7uAYLx/oIJ … viLEYYuOvZ)

Boot Loader: ? (Redboot?)

OK, and now, what is the next step to do?

We only need a brief, general explanation or suggestions about what read to understand all the proccess.

Thanks.

My earlier post to this thread appeared there for a while but seemed to have disappeared now but anyway I am interested to know your progress.

If I understand "redboot" correctly (after reading about redboot just now), if the device is supporting redboot's bootp, the device will send out bootp client requests. So you might want to sniff the cable connected to the device using tcpdump or ethereal. That might throw some lights into the problem. Try also sniffing the cable after pressing the reset button.

Cheers

Hello world wink

So did you eventually make it ? Did you managed to get the DI-524 work on OpenWRT ?

Hello,
same intention. Would like to get my DI 524 running with Kamikaze.

Does anybody know how to deal with that package and DI 524:

The more I dig into it the more headage I get, so some help would be gorgeous,
cheers
