Topic: TP-Link Archer C7, which firmware?

Hello,

I have a TP-Link archer C7 ver2 with serial number 216xx. I tried to install CC-15.05.1 on it but it got bricked. The trunk release does not expose the 5GHz radio. How can i get the radio working?

Thanks

The ath10k kernel module and firmware file are required for 5 GHz operation.  They are not included in all builds but could be installed separately.

I have Archer C7 V2 serial 215C043...

I tried to follow the instructions on the wiki.openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/archer-c5-c7-wdr7500 ToH page about installing this zioncluster.ca/openwrt/archer-c7/openwrt-ar71xx-generic-archer-c7-v2-squashfs-factory.bin image but the firmware it came with wouldn't flash it.

I did manage to flash it via the stock firmware with the 30Dec16 "latest" factory image. I can SSH into it, install Luci, etc. But I can't get the 2.5GHz radio working nor find an ath10K kernel module for the kernel I have.

Is there a less bleeding-edge image that supports the radios and the gd25q128 flash chip?

If there is, should I use the factory or sysupgrade image (even if it is a downgrade)?

I assume you have tried "opkg update; opkg install kmod-ath10k ath10k-firmware-qca988x ath10k"?

Yes. Here is what happens:
