Re: Linksys says "Thank you!" - WRT3200ACM giveaway

Another unit has arrived to its destination. Thanks.

Re: Linksys says "Thank you!" - WRT3200ACM giveaway

I got my unit a few minutes ago by DHL. European version, sent from UK on Monday.

Luckily I called DHL this morning to enquire for it, as the sender had forgotten to provide my street address for the package. DHL actually called me back a few minutes later after they noticed the missing info. (Luckily I called them, so that they got my phone number. Belkin had provided their UK number as the contact phone)

The package had my name, zip code, city & country, but no street address. And when I now look at the package plus the delivery note / waybill, I do not find street address anywhere...

So, if you are in Europe and you should get a router and it does not arrive in a few days, it may pay off to call your local DHL and enquire for the package.

But any way, big thanks to Belkin/Linksys & Kaloz for organising this giveaway.

Re: Linksys says "Thank you!" - WRT3200ACM giveaway

DHL wasn't of much help, unless I have some kind of shipment ID they couldn't trace it as it may not be handled by themselves. Can anyone tell which service they used (should say in the waybill), Parcel.. Express etc?

Re: Linksys says "Thank you!" - WRT3200ACM giveaway

Dizzy, DHL can trace a shipment using the name or the address. They gave me the tracking number, and then from the website, I monitored the status.

If the tracking number is a 10 digit number, it means that it is a DHL Express shipment. In certain cases, local transport  companies can operate on behalf of DHL in your area if DHL has no presence.

You could call the DHL HQ in your country and tell them your name or shipping address.

Re: Linksys says "Thank you!" - WRT3200ACM giveaway

They claim that they couldn't do that without knowing at least shipping service. (Sweden) :-/

Re: Linksys says "Thank you!" - WRT3200ACM giveaway

@silelis
Call DHL, tell them to track down a DHL Express package from the UK and they'll find the parcel ID for you.

Re: Linksys says "Thank you!" - WRT3200ACM giveaway

hi,

first off, i want to acknowledge how stupid i am for not taking advantage of this giveaway when nitroshift shared the information on IRC late last year. for that, i apologise.

however, given my very difficult experience with the ARM platform (their alleged FPU specs fluctuating with each generation of chip), and how their solution for *eabi* targets (multilib) is anything but one, i am hoping i linksys would be nice enough to 'comp' me one of these routers?

looking at the design of the MIPS processors, i think i will have a much better experience. the consistent number of floating point registers, and purported forward/backward compatibility with their 32 and 64 bit architectures, suggests that i erred in even looking at the ARM platform two years ago.

here is a taste of the kind of work i've been doing on linux kernel routers: dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=1071973&highlight=#1071973

after learning how to build my own distro from scratch, having it boot but facing disappointment because broadcom's wlan blobs were only softfloat (thereby defeating the main selling point of the v7++ routers), althewhile learning an inordinate amount about the linux platform, i am ready to leave ARM for greener pastures.

i acknowledge i am a "dd-wrt first" developer, however i see no reason i couldn't spin the same kernel for openwrt as well (the web interface, DD-WRT"s great strength, is something i love) so that others can enjoy full access to the innards.

thank you.

Can we nominate folks?  Here is my list:

@davidc502 -- actively maintains a popular community build
@nitroshift -- has actively supported the community and forward-looking features
@sera -- developing swrt, forward-looking patches, etc
@hnyman -- long-term and broad support, bring that to the WRT family

I'm assuming @Kaloz will already have one.  Sorry if you were left off my list, if you comment here and I notice I left someone off I'll edit.  smile

My vote also would go to @davidc502 ! smile
