Topic: chaos calmer - default password not blank?

The content of this topic has been archived on 26 Apr 2018. There are no obvious gaps in this topic, but there may still be some posts missing at the end.

It's POSSIBLE I could have changed the password on this newly flashed Netgear WNDR3400 and then fallen asleep or something, but I 30/30/30'd it and it still wants a root password. How the heck do I reset it, or is there a new default password on Chaos Calmer rc1, or ...?

I tried searching.

Can you telnet in?  On a non-LuCI install, you have to telnet in and set a password before you can use ssh.  ssh will act like it wants a password but there is actually no way to log in.

Also, if that doesn't help and you actually set a password you don't remember anymore:
- activate failsafe (however that's done on the WNDR3400, I'm not familiar with that device)
- telnet in
- mount_root
- passwd
- reboot into regular operation

Thank you sooo much, I will try these today or tomorrow and report back. smile

30/30/30 is DD-WRT voodoo that doesn't apply here (and probably makes no difference on DD-WRT either).

The discussion might have continued from here.
