Tried that ZyNtax, not working. Not enough at least.
If I get it booted up via LAN ports it will launch, then I have to switch it to #4... And then only Live IPTV streams work, no EPG or anything else. I have had lots of help on IRC, but to no avail so far.

This is one of the test setups running right away ("important" mac addresses redacted). With this I can at least watch live-stream... PS, igmp_snoop had some issues. It made it *hyper* slow. like, one frame every 12 minutes or so.

Thx scapi, aqua, zyntax etc.

So ye, I dl pre-built, concatenated .asc into the boobt ram, nand eras chip thingy, now it's all gone ,p

ps. this was bricked it seemd as I said, I kept the initial log screens before the nand erase, which showed errors, and when I do nand bad, I get an address actually, so this might be a "won't work in the end" case.

But anyway, so I have to short it to get to CFG 02, but each time I try to use tftp it times out.. this was admitedly before going to bed, being tipsy, so am on a better machine to work with than the laptop with the PCB board on my chest last night ,p

But have others had issues with the tftp timing out ?

Show tftp server config, remember to set static ip for server 192.168.1.2.

yes, scapi.. we use systemd (archlinux), so all I do is enable a socket and start it in /srv/tftp/

and I set one of the infaces statically to 192.168.1.2, with ifconfig (the other one is on a different subnet).

Trying again now.. by the way, you speak of uploading some new binaries, and someone saying something not working.. the built binaries are about 3 weeks old, sorry but it seems a bit confusing .. anyway, if I understood correctly, I should be able to at least get the 3 week old ones up and running if not everything tip top.. then I need to after* a successful flash also add /lib/firmware/method_i_wiush I don't use adsl but only the wan port.

Sounds good?

EDIT: my apologies, it worked now 2+ mb/s was last night, I was sloppy with the socket definition on my server. All good so will report back how things are looking smile

{filesize in hex} I assume is an actual placeholder for the value in hex, yes?<- yup

Ok power off board, then comes openwrt uploiad ooff the kernel into another location address... if this powering off necessary ? (I would liek to continbue witht e current bootloader in ram, as the R17 is a bit of a hassle when it comes to the shorting).

(HAHA.. ok, I will be quiet.. as obviously the short wasn't needed anymoe ,p) <3 love and peace.

After you have done the initial images (.asc bootloader, then the actual u-boot-img) you don't need to short R17 again. However, you can read back to about page 6 or 7 or so, to see what happens when you DO NOT power off.

You will leave your router working at about 5% power it would normally have. It is completely useless. That's why the power off is required! If you try to do everything in CFG 02 you will lack about 400MHz CPU et al.

cheers aquatica.. yes, I did power off.. however it all seeems sweel (except I flashed first squashfs, then decided ot just reflash the ubifs right after).. when I read the nand at 0x8080000 at offset 60000, it says the image format is wrong hmm

SO i can't boot into it again. I will redo the process and flash the ubifs straight away but shouldn't matter.

Is this something people have experienced?

EDIT: Ok confirmed, it was a dodgy nand flash. detaching /dev/mtd3 failed, but existed. When I redid the whole process (nand erase.chip and so on), this time, ubidetach /dev/mtd3 worked, and so it all seemed sane.

Must of been some artifacts of the bad nand block and/or whatever had happened to this router in the past before I got it.

Anywayall up and running, time to test and possibly help out with patching smile

Btw, how good is the mips 34k.c  (or is this f) in comparison to the mips74k?

hmm, I don't mind using the phone lines for my SIP phone adapter, but I don't need the adsl connection, only wan.. the annex A and B, what is the difference.. and I upload the eeprom form the github up to the firmware folder, but a vdsl.bin is already there, does this need to be overwritten.. from Annex A/Annex B? SLightly confused on this part, any input appreciated.

100% of You're questions are answered ether in this thread, wiki or readme on my github wink If You aren't using VDSL/ADSL why you're trying to upload firmware for it ? SIP/VOIP isn't working on VR9 right now. Quite wrong choice for WAN router compared to others on the market.

Scapi.. I have a Cisco SPA122, I mentioned I had a wnr3500Lv2 I brocked with openwrt (a beta build which claimed to have it working) anyway got therefore a ttl usb but I was a bit fast and connected the tx, rx, gnd AND vcc hmm I measured it with the multimeter and it is 5V, I am guessing it toasted the wnr3500Lv2 as now in the serial it will just spit out 0x00 in sync with the led light blinking hehe.

Ah well, I loved that router but that's what I get for being too quick. So I dug out this router which I got over a year agop for free... I just want to use it as access point and firewall actually, mainly. I do need the upstream wan to work though, the phone stuff is just optional.

The wan doesn't pick up automatically and so I was trying to make sense of the vdsl options. HAving read the zyxel site, there is some hardware switch to choose which WAN input is working, right? That is why I thought it has something to do with it and am asking. If none of that adsl stuff actually _relates_ to the WAN switch option zyxel talks about, fine.. why doesn't it pick up the wan IP then?

when I tried setting wireless password in gui, it just kept reverting to the passwd I set in telnet, which logged me in without setting passwd, even if I had in serial .. hehe, oddity. Anyway with a reboot, it seemed to finally parse the wifi key.. I wonder if that nand bad block really is making it a broken piece actually.

Although thanks for letting me know about the SIP.. I would have prolly ended up with a lot of dead end work then.  Of which to add, I told you, I might have added work in the patching but hey, fair enough.

Either way, thanks for all the work on this router, I haven't been able to ever touch openwrt before, that's all, so it is just a bit strange, w.r.t. tomato.

forgetmij,
By default you have one VLAN. You need an another one to get WAN port to work. If you go few pages back there is my setup for the switch, that makes it work. It was posted even before that by carmine, I think.
Anyway, they settings WILL NOT LAST, before you change the root password. When logging in to luci (web GUI), it will shout out that in a quite large box telling you to set up root password... If it doesn't, you're good to go.

yes.. I noticed.. I was setting it up  (2nd vlan, noticed i tmissing and was browsing how swconfig works on openwrt).. but wasn't working. I admit I thought/expected that it was configured for at least a wan/lan ports but fair enough.. I am more than happy enough to figure it out. Sorry for throwing out questions here. I am not used toall the config layouts and styles and have a lot of other work to do but at least I have a working openwrt router up and running. Since I burnt the wnr3500lv2, I need just one which works as a repeater/AP bridge for one subnet.. and a firewall for the wired and that's it. Aquatica.. yes the gui fifn't seem to be so responsive to start with (so I juist stuck to doing it all over ssh). But thanks for the tip about vlan 2 .. as even if I set it up, I am not getting dhcp form upstream.

I will look for your post.  Thanks.

Mita kuuluu ,p

edit: ya, I chose port 3, (as it wasn't listed so I guessed it was the wan port) but it was port 5. I should hve known as I saw some activity in dmesg on port 5, earlier.. anyway cheers.. now the upstream said ello. So now I can hack away smile

@aquatica.. I am not sure what issue you have with that IPTV, but I thought I'd mention to you, that if you look at the official firmware changelog, you will see they have a _specific_ fix regarding IPTV issues on a port, which might be relvant to you, given openwrt is generic code.

From their changelog:
Modifications in V1.00(AACC.3)b2
[Bug Fixed]
1. Set all LAN ports to become bridge via auto-provision. 3 LAN ports are in DATA
interface group and 1 LAN port is in IPTV interface group. If we don’t watch IPTV, the
DATA client can access internet. But if we start to play IPTV, the DATA client can’t
access internet anymore.

hmm, so I need to have a baseline to compare speed to, slapping on the stockware requires nand writing of the Zbooter  at a specific offset or just a file I saw on the laptop last night on some other forum.. hmm.

hmm, after checking out the stock firmware, I can safely say I will never use that lol.

Scapi... To me it seems I can't boot the squashfs-ubinised.bin as bootm complains about wrong image format. This was what I had the first time around too.. and I think when I used the ubinised (rw) image, it works. Can someone confirm this?

For me it seems so, can confirm with ubinised.bin it boots as expected, but not when I try ubiformat the current squashfs.bin file.

(Last edited by forgetmij on 22 Feb 2015, 16:00)

Did you use the pre-made images by scapi? If not, check compression of the images. Also isn't it the uImage-initramfs that you boot with bootm 0x80800000? Did you remember to set up the setenv variables as well?

EDIT:
Just so everyone knows, I got the IPTV part to work as well! It took a hell of a work and someone from IRC did most of the actual setup, since I ain't that good with it. For those interested, the config is here (with thanks to the person who did most of the work):

BB images on github.

Reboot problem still occurs, need to trace it in u-boot.
Board hangs after reboot on:

U-Boot SPL 2013.10-openwrt5 (Nov 18 2014 - 19:54:01)
SPL: initializing NAND flash
SPL: checking U-Boot image
SPL: loading U-Boot to RAM
SPL: decompressing U-Boot with LZO
SPL: cannot start U-Boot

Since today my P-2812HNLU-F1 runs an image with kernel 3.10 provided privately to me by Aquatica.
Since my ISP uses ptm it requires is a 3.10 kernel as 3.18 (ScApi github image) apparently doesn't have working ptm.

When downgrading from ScApi to Aquatica with keeping configuration I ran into the same u-boot hang issue described by ScApi (msg #291) once After that I did not keep configuration and did not have the issue.

Hopefully we get stable images soon.

Thanks all for the hard work getting OpenWRT running on this hardware. Feel free to reach me for testing or other help.

Hallo everyone.
I just installed this buid on my router and try to get it connect with ADSL. I changed vdsl.bin and RT3092.eeprom with those found in "annex A" and "calibration data" catalogues, but they seem to be the same files as in the build. I have an analogue annex A line with parameters like this:
    VPI 0
    VCI 35
    Encapsulation: PPPoA
    Multiplexing: VCMUX
Now I'm running a TD-W8960N v3 TP-LINK router. Here is every info i could gather from it.

From log your settings indicate vpi/vci 8/35, did you reboot after saving config ? What provider is it ?

Yes, i did reboot.
Provider is called Netia. The upper configuration template is for my line.
It looks like this vpi/vci 8/35 is default for "config interface 'wan'" section. That's what i get when i put "option vpi '0'" and "option vci '35'" in there"

I didn't find your e-mail address.
Do you mean changing only "pppoa" into "pppoe"? I doesn't work:

yaaay scapi.. nie wizalem jestescz polak? Me too but I can't write it, only speak it big_smile
Anyway, maybe i need to use stock after all, as my upload speed with the openwrt was 1 Mbit! hmm

I only use wan (ethernet) anyone else having the speeds one expects?

Stock however, wouldn't even log in I think and missing images and was just a mess, but maybe I will have to try again.. I left this for now as I am pretyt busy with other things though sigh.

Hi,
I'm trying to gather all info into one complete how-to for f3. Could you correct me if I'm wrong?

Installing u-boot
1. Power off router.
2. Short R17, turn on router to get into CFG 02.
3. Send openwrt-lantiq-p2812hnufx_ram-u-boot.asc to the router.
Is this file from scapi pre-build f3 dropbox ok?
4. Wait for U-Boot to load and stop auto-boot process.
I understand router goes to reboot, and I have to hit the key to stop autoboot
5. Type in console: protect off all
6. Type in console: erase all
7. Set Your IP addres to "192.168.1.2" and start tftp server
8. Place openwrt-lantiq-p2812hnufx_nor-u-boot.img in tftp folder.
Do I put NOR uboot.img or RAM uboot.img from scapi pre-build f3 github?
9. Type in console: tftp 0x80700000 openwrt-lantiq-p2812hnufx_nor-u-boot.img. See point 8 NOR or RAM?
10. Type in console: cp.b 0x80700000 0xb0000000 0x{filesize in hex}
What value in hex do I put there?
11. Turn off router. Turn on.

BTW. What is the difference beetween steps mentioned above and this:
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/9aup68dv6oq5 … t.txt?dl=0

------------------

Installing OpenWRT
All steps from here?

I won't reply in anything else but the HEX file size. If you are on windows and use tftpd, it will tell you the filesize (also in HEX) after upload.
