Topic: [TL-WDR4300] 5Ghz wifi (radio1) at 0%

Hi everybody,

I have bought a TP-Link WDR4300 v1.7 and put openwrt in it thanks to the wiki :

I have installed Attitude Adjustment 12.09 (image : openwrt-ar71xx-generic-tl-wdr4300-v1-squashfs-factory.bin) and everything works fine (I have LuCI and internet working with eth and Wlan).

This router can provide 2 wireless networks :

MAC80211 802.11bgn (radio0)
MAC80211 802.11an (radio1)

The radio0 is working fine but the radio1 is stuck to 0%.

I have replaced SSID and keys on purpose. The radio0 is working but the radio1 is stuck at 0% and doesn't work.
I would be most grateful if you could help me. I read the forum + wiki but never saw any good answer. I would like to make both wi-fi run at the same time.

0% is normal if no client is associated because then there is no signal to measure.

I'm running Ubuntu 14.04, and when i'm trying to find the ESSID of the Wifi signal, I can only find the radio0 one.

I can't find the radio1 one with NetworkManager.

I tried also with my android phone and i can't find the ESSID as well.

I didn't tick the 'hide ESSID' option in LuCI.

are you sure your clients have a dual band wifi card?

What channel does it claim to be on? Most likely DFS isn't working properly (it rarely does) so you need to set the channel manually to a non DFS one. Even if DFS did work it'd take a minute or two to come up, are you waiting long enough?

Dual Band Wifi Card = Wifi N acceptance so yes every clients I use have it.

I tried to reboot wi-fi with this :

It doesn't come up. I have choosen channel 36 for 5GhZ. I waited for like 30min. I didn't come up.

Erm 11n capable does not imply 5GHz support. In fact most "n" devices do not support 5GHz. Most smartphones don't, many laptops neither.

Ermm we seem to be missing the actual important part of the system log, the bit where the wireless is initialized. Unless you've deliberately cut that bit out, you need to increase your syslog buffer. Nonetheless from what I can see the wireless appears to be "Up" so the suspicion rests with your client devices.
