Topic: Can't reset OpenWRT then can't TFTP firmware and can't telnet in

A friend forgot the username and password to his Buffalo WZR-HP-AG300H wireless router so he asked me to help him but I've tried everything to get access, to reset it, to reinstall the OpenWRT firmware including using tftp (Linksys tftp), with a ttl to USB converter which I soldered to the router's board and monitoring the opportune point at which to tftp the firmware.  The router's default is 192.168.15.1 which I've used with the computer set to the fixed address of 192.168.15.2 and also tried with other addresses such as 192.168.11.1 and 192.168.1.1 without success.  I've also tried to telnet into those addresses with port 23 and 24 without success.  I've tried to put the router into safe and other modes by inputting f and return and only return at the points specified during boot by monitoring the serial output but that doesn't work.  I've also put a 10/100 switch in between the router and the computer but that didn't make it work.  This has taken many hours.  I rarely give up but this has got me almost there.  I need some help.  Here's the serial output during boot:

What about pressing <f> and <enter> at 19 seconds to enter failsafe mode? Or do you have problems to send characters over serial interface?

I tried that but the characters won't send over the serial interface. I tried by pressing the characters on the keyboard and by using the uCon terminal program by setting up a control key with f and \n which I pressed at the point that the serial output says to press f and the enter key.

Didn't the failsafe button work for you?
Just press the reset button repeatedly once the system starts to boot, when you see the system led blinking.
If you triggered the emergency mode, the system led will blink much faster.
Then just set your IP to 192.168.1.xx and telnet to 192.168.1.1
The easiest now is to erase the router to factory and you're done:
mtd -r erase rootfs_data

Before I read your reply, I tried something else.  I set up the Windows 7 firewall to allow the various programs, Linksys-tftp.exe, uCon, etc., to work through the firewall on the private network.  Then I set up the LAN connection IPV4 with ip 192.168.11.2 subnet 255.255.255.0 default gateway 192.168.11.1 and set up Linksys-tftp.exe with ip 192.168.11.1 and the file buffalo_to_ddwrt_webflash-MULTI.bin and connected the Ethernet cable from the computer directly to the router's Ethernet port 4 next to the WLAN port.  I set up uCon with 115200 bps and the serial port number of the router's serial connection. I rebooted and, while watching the uCon terminal window, started the Linksys-tftp.exe program immediately at the point when the router's boot program says to upload the firmware.  This time it worked and I am able to login with the browser at 192.168.1.1

Overall, this took many hours to figure out and accomplish which I did because I am very stubborn about solving problems successfully but this router almost defeated me.

Even though I didn't use your suggestion thanks for your help.
