Topic: DIY: USB to TTL Adapter?

Hello,

is it possible to use a standard USB connector with cable (e.g. from an old mouse) to build a TTL (serial) adapter?

(1) Cut the wire from the USB cable
(2) Expose the ends of the inside wires
(3) Connect the wires directly to the router serial port (e.g.: for TPLink-WR1043ND: TX / RX / GND)
(4) Start Putty!

Would this work?
Are the wires inside the USB cable internationally standard colour coded? What colour is TX / RX / GND / PWR ?

No, DO not use standart USB for router serial interface. In TTL adapter there some IC chips so you need it to get TTL levels smile
