Topic: tp-linkwrR720n wisp mode

Hi, everyone I have this nice little board AR9331 based with 8 MB ram and 2Mb flash and vxWorks bootloader. I have already upgraded ram to 16MB and flash to 4Mb.
I know it is not supported and never will be supported by openwrt,
I just have the need to convert it into a CPE type wisp client mode, much like this one:

http://redesoutdoor.intelbras.com.br/pr … n-2-12-dbi

I'm able to run firmware for MR3020 and MR2040 but none of these have wisp features on its firmware and there are not many CPEs on the market with this chipset:
So I'm appealing to you guys for help flashing a third party firmware from the vxworks prompt, I have some experience with redboot and uboot but none with vxworks and so far google has not been able to help.
This is the boot log vxworks:

thanks for any help that might put me on the right direction...
Perhaps somebody from brazil can share a flash dump from this wog-212 board
nice day

Thanks for you reply nebbia88:
Actually it's the MR3040 that has a quasi wisp client option, but it's not intended in the traditional WISP sense the TP-LINK will act as a client repeater and not like a professional cpe like airos.
The cpe in the link I posted does have those features, but I don't have the skills to flash from vxworks prompt.

thanks again

This is the firmware I'm trying to feed the wr720n: but of course I get:
Error code: 18005
http://www.4shared.com/file/U-SIJYTIce/ … 0830_.html
nebbia88, please take a look @ it and see if there's anything that can be edited so wr720 can accept it:
thanx

this is all I found, maybe ask there:

https://forum.openwrt.org/viewtopic.php?id=41040

(thinking that firmware and bootloader for 720n is similar to 702n...)

anyway i think you will need an external flash programmer and solder/desolder flash sad

actually i think 3040 and 3020 firmware is identical...

what you mean with "quasi wisp"? what feature are you missing?

have a look at working mode menu.

I've been reading that thread for hours and hours, but unfortunately I don't have any programming skills, I have more skills on the hardware side of things.
btw I do have the external programmer that's how I got it to run mr3020 firmware.
Also the mr3020 has a hardware switch to allow wisp operation maybe that's why I don't see the working mode menu.
regards

software switch was added at some point.. were you using lastest fw? v1 or v2 hw?

I think it is v1 hw, but I can see the working mode menu when I use mr3040 fw.
what I was saying is that even when this mr3040 fw is capable of wireless client mode it is simply not as good as air os or even wr543g which are real cpe firmwares.
Do you know of any other 4Mb flash AR9331 cpe outhere? as those are easy to modify using the windows utility to fix header and checksum.
thanks for your time and effort

To get back to the original question.
Does anyone her have some idea how to flash a firmware from the vxworks propt?
I'm sure it can't be that hard, its simply a matter of being a closed source software that there is not a whole lot of information about it on the net.
thanks again

The discussion might have continued from here.
