Topic: Do WiFi repeaters have two Wifi interfaces?

The content of this topic has been archived on 13 Apr 2018. There are no obvious gaps in this topic, but there may still be some posts missing at the end.

Recently I stumbled across the Wifi repeater product category. Those products connect to an existing Wifi network and create a new Wifi network to extend the range of the original one.

Do Wifi repeaters have two internal Wifi interfaces? If not, how does this work from a technical point of view? Has OpenWrt the capabilities for this functionality with a single Wifi interface?
