I have a D-Link 2640U which had firmware RU_2.01 with C2 Hardware version. I tried to update the firmware (a standard Dlink update to 2.05) but the firmware update didn't work and now I cannot access the router IP 192.168.1.1.
The Internet light is also stuck on permanently so I think the device is bricked (hard reset does not work).

Trying to resolve this is what led me to this site.
Could someone point me in the direction on how to un-brick the device (if it is at all possible)? Is it possible to fix this router?

I have no specific tools (I am just connecting directly via LAN cable).
Sorry if this post is out of place - I just need to know if I have a chance. If someone can direct a noob with some help that would be much appreciated!

Hello Sir,
I have the same model (D-Link 2640U which had firmware ME_2.01 with C2 Hardware version) with the latest firmware 2.05 from dlink ftp, I tried many many things but not working. can anybody tell me if this is a fault in the board capacitors or something else although all PCB parts looks in a good condition as seen in image and only the power led and LAN connected cable are only lighting some times the internet led is flashing also for few seconds...
N.B: I changed also the power adapter but the same problem.
