Hi.
Can someone please provide links for any firmware version for the router above, which allows me to use any EVDO / 3G datacard, rather than Vodafone's alone.
Thanks in Advance

Install Openwrt and then install USB 3G drivers

I have a unit of this HG556A which I am looking at how to flash Openwrt on it..
The wiki says I need to backup my wifi data first but I am not sure how...
Do you have any ideas?
Thanks
Eric
The wiki says with JTAG.
The wiki says with JTAG.
mm.. I don't have JTAG nor how to operate one..
My actual question is whether it is necessary to backup the WIFI calibration data before flashing as the WIKI says...
at the top of the page..
http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/huawei/hg556a#ath_data
I am not keen to lose the WIFI on the router by wiping the WIFI calibration data..
I would like to hear the comment from someone who have actually flashed this specific router to Openwrt.
Thanks

Just to answer my own question for anyone looking for same answer...
I have tried installing Openwrt on HG556A and WIFI is working correctly after I flashed the ROM.
i.e. it is not necessary to backup the WIFI calibration data...
(I build my own ROM using trunk, r35770)
Looking at the source code, it seems like Openwrt will automatically do this when it is installed..
