Topic: dg834 how can I upgrade from backfire to attitude adjustment ?

I am trying to upgrade my Netgear dg834 from backfire to attitude adjustment but without success:
Sysupgrade / webinterface firmware upgrade is not available. So I created a split image for mtd0 and mtd1 like the one I used for the Backfire installation, but I do not know how to get it flashed.
I tried many things, but the router wont boot into adam2 and I notice there is no /proc/sys/dev/adam2/environment to set an ip-address for the bootloader.
I tried using dd and mtd to get the images flashed on mtd0 and mtd1, but I always get "Operation not permitted" like errors.
Any help would be appreciated.

An update on the situation: After loads of fiddling I managed adam2 to load and to flash the images. The problem now is that the router seems to boot, but I cannot access OpenWRT on the standard ip 192.168.1.1. I tried the old IP as well, but no luck here.

Did you succeed in the end?
How did you flash the image?
Which version of the dg834 do you have?
