Topic: TP-Link MR3220V2

The content of this topic has been archived between 7 Oct 2014 and 6 May 2018. Unfortunately there are posts – most likely complete pages – missing.

TP-Link has a new version V2 of the MR3220. There is a ticket at https://dev.openwrt.org/ticket/12026 and page in the Wiki http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/tl-ap121

Current Firmware from TP-LINK
http://www.tp-link.com.au/Resources/sof … 120703.zip

GPL Sources
http://www.tp-link.com/resources/gpl/150Router.tar

The serial port on the board is not connected. It has a new hardware base, AP121, and the compression of the kernel is LZMA.

Update:
The serial signal is on the two small pads on the back side.
TP18 is TX.
TP23 is RX.

Update:
OpenWrt works on the MR3220V2 with the changes mentioned in the ticket.
USB is detected, but doesn't connect to low-speed devices. Other devices work when ledtrig-usbdev is not in the image.
WLAN is not detected.

What did you do to get the WLAN working?

Hi,
I'm also interested in running and testing openwrt on MR3220 v2, can you provide notes on how to build a image?
So far I've used openwrt with MR3220 v1 flashing snapshot images...

RalfFriedl, what to you mean for low speed usb devices? do USB pendrives and hard disks work? bluetooth dongles?
Thanks

@Raflfriedl: 9331 profile to build
@matteo: yes, pendrives, hdd work flawleslly with ext / fat32 fs but not for ntfs (buggy).

here is mr32220 v2 firmware (can be flash directly from tplink original firmware) 100% Works!:
MR3220 V.2

Info:
1) Wifi Default On
changable by WPS button on back panel
2) Luci Interface
3) WAN + Full 3G Modem Driver
4) Blockmount / Exroot Ready [ext & fat] file system
5) etc.

sysupgrade here:

You can use the tl-wr741ndv4 firmware and do usb patch it's the same chipset and wifi/wan/lan/usb should work.

@cindy.wijaya
Thank you very much for sharing your builds!

Anyway, can you provide info on how to build the firmware? Maybe you can update the wiki smile

Hi,

Thanks for the good work guys !
However, I cannot download successfully the files (it fails after few K, sometimes 200Kb, sometimes 1800... but never 3.4M).
If someone could provide a download mirror (+md5) if would be helpfull.

Thank you by advance,
Pierre-Thomas

Low speed devices are mainly used for keyboard and so on, but also for control devices with a small number of I/O pins.
USB storage devices and Bluetooth adapters are not low speed.

thank you, I've tried, and a good result for this version 2
I am also waiting for you to share how to make this version smile

can someone please help me install openvpn on this router?
currently i am getting this error

 satisfy_dependencies_for: Cannot satisfy the following dependencies for openvpn:
 *     kernel (= 3.3.8-1-2f68a23229e31667f00b2a0a65027c00) *

(Last edited by arjunking on 8 Nov 2012, 00:11)

@arjunking: looks like you are using a trunk snapshot, which has been updated between the time that you downloaded the firmware image and installing openvpn. the clean solution would be to install a new image and quickly install all additional packages. the quick and dirty solution would be to disable dependency checking while installing this package.

Or download imagebuilder package so you get all packages for the current image.. Or use AA beta2

Thanks.

mr3220-v2-aabeta2

Thank you very much!

@cindy.wijaya
Thanks, but are you sure you compiled it right? It doesn't detect any devices I connect through usb. And the files from box.com got removed somehow, only md5sums left in there.
