Hi slboat,

Nice to see you here, and thank you for these pictures!

Nice work, but I see that you are taking the GND for the LVTTL console on the USB shield, which is NOT connected to GND directly (only through caps). I suggest rather to connect the GND wire to either:
- the large C7 1206 cap (top PCB side) on the terminal facing the SDRAM, or
- the large C114 1206 cap (bottom PCB side) on the terminal close to the SPI Flash chip
- use a color different from black for TP_IN to avoid confusion with GND
- put some hot glue around all solder joints to secure all this!

I also saw that you are selling on TaoBao a kit comprising the SPI Flash chip, the SDRAM chip, a Lai's green USB flash tool and an SO8 adapter:
http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=1901 … 328642.0.0

But it is not possible to order on TaoBao outside China, except through an agent. Do you plan to put this item on eBay too?

Thanks!

Hi slboat,

Thank you!

I don't see Lai's green tool in the picture, only SPI Flash and SDRAM chip. Are the tool and SO8 adapter included?

im sorry ,the ebay sucks....not alowed me edit again

Attention!
In order to maintain a safe trading environment, there's a limit on the number of times individual sellers can list certain items in a period of 30 consecutive days. The types of items that are subject to limits may vary.

You've reached the 30-day selling limit for the type of item you're trying to list. This means that while you can list other types of items, you will need to wait 30 days or until your other listings of this type have ended before you can list this item.

Established accounts which demonstrate a history of excellent buyer satisfaction will be automatically subject to higher limits.

check out again

I have to say, going via bhiner has been very tedious. It has taken me 3 days to get to the point where the kit will be shipped.
slboat, if you can get your ebay working fully, many would appreciate it!

thx a lot u guys,i will learn more about ebay,it's always happy to know u guys to play it and have fun

How could I do this by myself? I can program the spi flash chip easily, but I don't know how to modify the files (what files? omg... ) to compile with the 8M flash support.
Thanks

*Edit*
my router is a 740n v4 which is the same hardware with more ethernet sockets.

im mkae all the picture in here: http://see.sl088.com/wiki/Wr703_TTL#.E5 … 7.9A.84GND

Hi slboat,

Yes, the big large pad you used is good GND. It is normally used to connect an external antenna shield, but it is ok to use it for GND as you did!

This was not the case for USB shields, that are not connected directly to GND, only through the specified C7/C114 capacitors. As these capacitors are large 1206, you can take the capacitor terminal away from the USB shield as GND, it is also ok.

im see the trick now,thx Squonk:)

slboat,
can you give a link to the bin file? My chinese is non-existent and google translate is not much better!
Thanks
Rob.

Thanks slboat, just waiting for the kit to arrive via bhiner. Are there linux or osx drivers for the green tool? Otherwise I'll have to borrow my wife's windows machine 8(

No probs, the source looks good for linux, maybe for mac (libusb is always a problem on macs). Can't wait to get the chip kit and play! Thank you slboat!

Thats cool,any new,give me know,play with openwrt,always have fun

Can I use this same flash and ram to upgrade an TP MR 3020?

yep they are same hardware

The TL-WR703N and the TL-MR3020 are sister routers and share 90% of their schematic, so the MR3020 uses the exact same SDRAM and Flash chips as the WR703N.

Just received mine, thank you slboat. The soldering is top notch.
A suggestion for future iteration : embed a RS232 converter inside the box, so that you can use any cable to get the console. I did this with the smallest and cheapest board I found and it takes less than 1/4 of the space inside the box. There's still enough space to include a 4port USB hub and an USB memory key (which I also did include).

Can we have a picture, pixelk?

This was before I added the USB hub :
http://stuff.knackes.com/dld/201301/20130126_163211-512_45FA356A.jpg

You can find the board on ebay under "USB TTL CP2102"

NOTE : This is NOT slboat's work, his soldering is way better than this. It's the only picture I have of this one before flooding it with hot glue.
