Hello

I buyed a wdr4300 today, that is the version sold here in Brasil.

Can anybody tell me if the installation of openwrt is difficult on this router or is there any file I can flash as web upgrade to get openwrt running?

Thank you.

Did you already read this ? http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/tl-wdr4300

Você já leu isto: http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/tl-wdr4300

I sugest you to use attitude adjustment releases here: http://downloads.openwrt.org/attitude_a … x/generic/

Eu sugiro que use os releases attitude adjustment : http://downloads.openwrt.org/attitude_a … x/generic/

Beware with the version because the 4300 and 4310 are not firmware compatible.

Cuidado pois os firmwares do 4300 e do 4310 não são compativeis.

Yes I already saw the wiki page.
Sim eu já vi o wiki.

My doubt is if I can flash the initial firmware as web upgrade or must I flash via FTP or ssh ?
A minha duvida é se posso fazer no web Upgrade ou usando FTP ou ssh?

Thank you!
Obrigado!

Just flash the firmware for factory using the interface of the tplink.
No caso dos tplink voce deve fazer utilizar o firmware factory e fazer o upgrade pela interface original.

I already flash various tp 1043nd to openwrd using this procedure.
Já fiz este procedimento em vários tplink 1043nd usando este procedimento .

What about upgrade once installed Open Wrt?

Upgrade via Web Interface or Upgrade like explained in Wiki?

Thank you.

Hi
A couple of questions,

1. Can the 4300 act as a repeater with open wrt flashed?
2. Secondly, in stock (or otherwise) can 2.4 and 5ghz WiFi happily coexist with the same ssid?

3. Can someone please confirm how to replace openwrt with stock? Openwrt web interface?
4. Any current stability issues?

Thanks experts

Hi,
I would like to buy this router. It has 3 antennas. Which of them are responsible for 5GHz? I would like to detach those which are responsible for 2.4 GHz.

As far as I'm aware they're dual band antennas so what you're asking is not possible.

Hi Guys,

This is my first steps with openwrt. I bought a TP-LINK TL-WRD3600 and I want to install the OpenWRT firmware. I found 4 different bin files in the snapshots:

openwrt-ar71xx-generic-tl-wdr3600-v1-jffs2-factory.bin
openwrt-ar71xx-generic-tl-wdr3600-v1-jffs2-sysupgrade.bin
openwrt-ar71xx-generic-tl-wdr3600-v1-squashfs-factory.bin
openwrt-ar71xx-generic-tl-wdr3600-v1-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin

I have 3 questions:
1 - What is the difference between jffs2 and squashfs?
2 - What is the difference between factory and sysupdate?
3 - Which one should I use to install OpenWRT from the stock firmware GUI?

Thanks in advance,
Américo

Jffs2 gives you more write permissions and is more for devs or people that need the extra flexibility.

Factory is for flashing from stock, sysupgrade is for updating from openwrt.

Install this one.

openwrt-ar71xx-generic-tl-wdr3600-v1-squashfs-factory.bin

Good luck, make sure to read the wiki page first.

Hi! Thanks for your answer! smile

I have WDR4300 and AArc1.

Which packages must i install to have iPv6 running and can iPV4 and iPV6 work together because i don´t know if my provider is on V6 protocol where i live?

It is experimental and i want to see when they start testing or if they are already.

thank you

Hey guys,
hope that somone might able to help. I installed openwrt on my WDR-4300 and its been great.
The Problem lies within the USB support.
lsusb does list my 4gb stick fat32 but not the 1.5 tb harddrive with ntfs.
I use the 12.09 (should be the latest).
If have reinstalled all usb packages but did not work.

Hi I also have a TL-WDR3600.
Running the TP-Link stock firmware and DD-WRT I am able to use the 2.4 and the 5 GHz band sumultaniously.

I'm thinking to change to Openwrt but when dualband is not possible with openwrt.....

Can someone confirm me that dualband is possible with the WDR3600?

Hi!

I have different configurations for 2.4 and 5GHz. I think they work as independent networks...

Last night I anwsered my own question by installing Openwrt on my TL-WDR3600.

And Yes I am able to use both the 2.4 GHz and the 5.0 Ghz band simultaniously smile smile

Below the "wireless"  file.
I have installed the " Attitude Adjustment 12.09-rc1" with luci included.
I only had to enable and config both wireless adapters. Wuite simple.

Hello,

i got my WDR4300 v1.3 yesterday and did some wifi benchmarks stock vs openwrt (barrier breaker trunk from 02/11/13):

http://itunsecurity.wordpress.com/2013/ … l-wdr4300/

I notice a real performance drop with my iphoen and ipad on openwrt. Does anybody have any advice on how to find out what is limiting the iDevices?
The Macbook has no problem with openwrt.

Also I use openvpn and have quite bad throughput via sslvpn tunnel.

In both cases the cpu is not maxed out.

Regards
Sebastian

I think the benchmark results from my previous post are only partial valid.
I think the iPhone/iPad had issues with the speedtest.net app.

I did some extensive iPerf Benchmarking just now with all 3 devices and got much higher WIFI performance.
However this time it was WIFI2LAN and not WIFI2WAN.

So naturally no NATing and Firewalling took place. When i find time and a server i might also try iPerf WIFI2WAN.

Here are the entire tests/results:

http://itunsecurity.wordpress.com/2013/ … -idevices/

Quick read:
iPhone5 2,4ghz: 45mbit
iPhone5 5ghz: 76mbit
iPad3 2,4ghz: 36mbit
iPad3 5ghz: 37mbit
Macbook 2,4ghz: 66mbit
Macbook 5ghz: 147mbit

Hi all,

We are using the atheros ar95xx radio chipset  in our product (Access point). This product has provision of selecting either internal or external antenna and this is done through a RF switch which is controlled from the SWCOM0 and SWCOM1 pins of the radio chipset. We understood that the two registers antctrlcommon and antctrlcommon2 of Board data layout control this selection. Can some one help me on how to set these register values from the user space. Is there any ioctl calls by which we will be able to set these registers.

Thanks in advance

I have just got wdr4300 a few days ago, so far it's been great.
I wrote what I've learned after installing usb supports/packages in this blog here.

Pretty much the same as what Openwrt wiki has explained but maybe a tiny differences.

I have been trying to overclock this Router.
I got the uboot change the cpu_pll divisor values, compiles ok.

I have ran out of ideas anyone can help?

Anyone with an Xbox and the 4310, please report compatibility?
DD-WRT and 4310 had ongoing issues with xbox

I have the Gargoyle UI installed on my N750 router.
I recently tried tinkering with the router to use it as a wireless AP. disabled the DHCP, etc. It didnt seem to work, so I just turned it off and slept!
I turn in on today and I cant log into it. I cant connect to it via ethernet or wifi. Both wifi hotspots are seen, but no device can connect.
Holding the reset button for 10+ sec also does not do a reset.
Any suggestions? This is my primary router sad

Edit: Of I forgot to add. It is a WDR4300, N750 router

Pressing the reset button for whatever time doesn't do anything, it only serves a function if pressed early during the boot process - please follow TL-WDR4300: Failsafe mode, which points you to generic.failsafe.

Hello folks.

I've sucessfully installed AA v12.09, and got both wifi radios properly working. Now, how is the dual band managed? It is something that the device itself will negotiate with the client? When checking the wifi settings I always see devices connected to the 2.4 radio, but none on the 5. I know for sure that I own devices with N wifi cards (a Samsung Galaxy S3 and an Asus Zenbook), but I dont see any of them using ever the 5mhz radio.
Ideas?

Thanks!

You have to configure that on your device. I.e. open the wifi config page on your S and select the 5GH radio instead of the 2.4 Ghz.
