Topic: Broadcasting wireless

Hi everyone.

I'm new to openwrt.
For several years i've used DD-Wrt and Fonera, but now i'm begining to experiment another firmware lieke openwrt and gargoyle.
I think openwrt is very well made, but the lack of explanations with Luci is making my learning process very slow...

I need to build this system:

There is no chance to connect the routers with cable.

Already tried with dd-wrt, using Router-2 in Client and Router-3 in client Bridge, But everything wass too slow... tried with wds but no connection.

In openwrt already managed to configure Router-2 in client mode, but donĀ“t know how to broadcast another SSID..

Can you give me a little help... preferably in luci, but i think i can get with UCI...

Is this the best way to do it? or there is another method?

Best regards
Ric

To broadcast another SSID you just have to add another wifi network and attach it to lan afterwards.

Thanks jow for your fast reply.

Tried that. Create the client. Apply.
like you suggest create new, this time AP or WDS AP and hit apply, he mix all the config...

At least on the spage you show.
could be a trunk bug?
or am i doing something wrong?

best regards

Now you have two times the same ID and two times Mode: Client. One of them has got to be Mode: Master

It might be that the gui is confusign the state there. In doubt simply reboot after creating the AP(-WDS) network and see if it still shows 2x Client networks.

I know that...

when i add the first in AP or wds-AP he stays in Master.
when put the second, even in client, stays Unkown. .

Conclusion: second network remains always UNKOWN.

From  jow picture, he has 2 radios. mine only one.
Is this the problem?
is missing from my router any "plugin"?

No. I have two radios because the screenshot was made on a wndr3700.

Already rebooted.

wds-ap is broadcasting, but client says mode: UNKNOWN, and doesn't establish connection with router-1.

It seems only works the first  connection configuration.

the second stays always  uknown.

The second might also be unknown because it cannot associate to the ap due to bad wpa settings, to weak signal etc.
Also note that when running two networks on the same radio, they have to use the same channel, so you must set the channel to the one required by the client to connect to the AP.

I think it's not that.
If i create the client connection in first place, he establish perfectly - both routers in the same room.

when create the virtual AP, mode stays UNKOWN and after apply, move to client, like in pic above.

The discussion might have continued from here.
