Topic: Point-to-Point Bridge (Backhaul) setup with OpenWRT ????

Hi,

I like to setup a Bridge Point-to-Point (Backhaul) with OpenWRT, is this possible?

You see this mode only on more expensive Access Point's so I was thinking OpenWRT muss have build-in these feature!?

Here is what I want to do with it:

Modem/wan <--> Main Router/AP <-- Network home --> AP-Bridge <-----point-to-Point-----> AP-Bridge <--> 8-port switch <--> Network

I do NOT want to use WDS for this kind of setup!

In the past I have to use two WAP54G AP's for such setup but now I like to do this with wireless-N AP or Wireless Router who can handle 150/300mbps.
The antenna's I use have Dual-Polarization to achive 150, 270 or 300mbps connection but also with only one antenna the speed wil be higher than wireless-G !!!!

Any information is welcome!

What about using a layer 2 mesh setup with batman-adv or AWDS ?

It's quite simple to setup and maintain.

have a look  https://forum.openwrt.org/viewtopic.php?id=32622

for maximum throughput i would recommend batman-adv which can be setup in the same way.

All in all its a wireless layer 2 bridging in adhoc mode where in your situtation you dont need to use the mesh-function.

Setup is quite straightforward.
AWDS is working here in 60+ stations.

Feel free to ask for any further information
