Topic: What for replacing Ubiquiti RouterStation Pro (end of life product) ?

Hi,

Ubiquiti Router Station Pro came up to "End of Life".

It was my first trial using RS pro for a custom application and i don't know a lot about router boards so i'm looking for advices with what to replace it. I used RSpro with an XR5 card (32-bit mini-PCI Type IIIA) and made a bridge between ethernet and wifi, the fact there are 4 ethernet port was very convinient for me too (avoiding to add a switch and its power supply).

So do you have any references to advice in replacement of RS pro with XR5?

I've found 2 references
alix6f2, http://pcengines.ch/alix6f2.htm
Laguna GW2388-4 Network Platform http://www.gateworks.com/products/laguna/gw2388-4.php (at first view i prefer this one)

What do you think about it?

Thanks for answers,
Julien

Yes it looks good.
Does anyone have other advices?

Overall System Configuration

•CPU Atheros AR7161 MIPS 24Kc running @ 680MHz
•MEMORY DDR 128MB
•FLASH SPI 16MB
•4-Port Gigabit Ethernet Switch
•Three MINI-PCI Slots supports Type IIIA
•USB 2.0 Host
•Built in RS232/dB9 Connector
•SDIO
•On board Real Time Clock "RTC"
•DC Power Jack
•802.3af 48V compatible
•Power Supply Range 40VDC to 56VDC **(15VDC to 56VDC In reality)**
•Ethernet Interface •J1 Single WAN port 10/100/1000 •J2 Tripple LAN Port 10/100/1000
•Supported IO UART J3 6 pin Header Terminal Settings 115200 baud, 8 bits, nor parity, 1 stop bit.

and details http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/ubiquiti/routerstation.pro

That's the specs of the Pro board indeed, but which of those features do you *need*?
And please if you want good advise, separate what you would like from what you need.

I need

•4-Port Gigabit Ethernet Switch  *to connect few ethernet devices without adding a switch
•2 MINI-PCI Slots supports Type IIIA  *Until now i used one on my first trial with omni antenna, i'd like to use 2 to extend my cover range

I'd like to be able to run rfid (rs232 connection)
•Supported IO UART J3 6 pin Header Terminal Settings 115200 baud, 8 bits, nor parity, 1 stop bit.

I'd like to
run a small web service on it.

I'd like to keep the voltage power supply i already used
•+24VDC (+/-2VDC)

thanks

Does anybody have a recommendation for a similar board that can provide 802.3af to 4 LAN ports, and preferably has a USB Host?

Hi,

I used to work with RouterStation too. Now I'm looking for a recent board that supports OpenWRT. My requirements are not too tight, but the board must have either an integrated Wi-Fi radio (neither USB nor SDIO host interface) or one (or more) PCIe slot(s). Other specs:

1xEthernet
1xUSB
GPU, HDMI, etc. are welcome, but not required.

All interesting things I've found so far use USB or SDIO for the Wi-Fi (e.g. miniand products, gooseberry, wandaboard, etc.). jjPLUS [1] look fine, but I'd prefer a better CPU...any recommendations, please?
