On the end, which is the best possible solution to add an external sma connector? Should i cut PCB antenna, and then solder an wire for connector there, or is a better solution to unsolder C114 and solder a cable for connector there? :-)

Have anyone tested.. i'm planning to buy that router and make that mod..

If i see it's a good router, i'll buy more and mod for external antenna 'cause i think it's a good and off course CHEAP router.. :-)

I also bricked my v1.6 device when trying to install these firmwares.

Fortunately I had the serial interface soldered and I recovered my 703n easily.

It good be great if these firmwares were updated to solve this problem but it looks like s7mx1 has not posted anything here in many months.

It would be nice if some administrator could edit the first post in this thread to warn the people with v1.6 units about this. Not everyone has easy access to the serial port to unbrick it.

The best solution is to unsolder the purposed J1 shunt ans solder the cable core there, and cable shield to the large corresponding pad nearby.

Yup, and FuTz, if you do it, can you take pictures: they would be great in the WiKi.

Since the firmwares in this topic are not working with 1.6 versions of the wr703n I compiled a firmware myself with nas, bittorrent and some other stuff.

I couldn't pack as many things as s7mx1 did but I think the result is quite good.

images are great, link to external site is in chinese.  Can you advise where exactly you soldered. which terminal # as the translation from google on that link revealed next to nothing for me.

you can also do it from the top side. There is a jumper on the left near the USB. Unsolder that, solder the core to the north side and the shield to the large tinned blob nearby.

i just tried to install the firmware again, and i have the same Problem: i can install the firmware, i can connect to the wifi, but i cannot reach the config web interface, because the (bridge) router has no ip adress. How can i solve that?!?!

No, by unsoldering the jumper you disconnect the internal antenna. I don't know what happens if you just solder to north side without removing the jumper. Give it a go.

I also tried s7mx1's firmware on my v1.6 device unaware that it doesn't suit it.

Firstly I flashed it with sysupgrade and it didn't work and I thought it's because you're not supposed to flash "factory" image with sysupgrade. Then I reverted to TP link image and flashed again via web interface and it was the same.

any updates about SMA port -  where excatly to solder pins.

Patches don't work on latest trunk but got firmware builth with updated .config file on wt703n V1.6 and it doesn't bricks it, which is good start

Now we need to fix patches and that is it... but I need help from people who know more about linux and openwrt...

Since I gave it up to make my W703N (V 1.6) working  with a Pulseaudio image:

I found in germany a product from Vodafone (build by ZTE in Shenzen) called "Media Plug".
It is exactly what I need. DLNA audio player. And the setup was very quick done.

It came out 2012 and now they are selling some remaining devices, so it seems, no one was interested.
