This is a "stable" version of wr703n firmware, I haven't tested it my self, but looks that who ever is doing this know what they are doing...

this is the best I could find sad

https://forum.openwrt.org/viewtopic.php … 57#p152457

SEEMS that he put coax shield on the antenna strip, that SEEMS connected to the left of C32, and coax center on the top of C29 (maybe removing it to exclude the antenna???).. but i am TOTALLY guessing this, i don't have ANY idea if this could have of any sense or not, from an electronic point of view, I wont make any trust on my words, wait for some real expert ^^

i saw this link too but i am unsure big_smile please somebody who already did the external antenna mod

I have just bought such a neat little device. (so it will take quiet some time until it reaches me wink

I have not used openwrt before, but I am using dd-wrt and I have been playing around with linux servers for a long time.

My question is if somebody has played with the Huawei E160g?
It is an old UMTS stick, that also has a MicroSD slot (max 8GB) as a composite device.
(and I have one laying around wink

I would like to use the d-link as a 3g WiFi router with a webGUI (luci) and mount an ext2 (or fat ??) formatted MicroSD from the Hua dongle.

Any idea if the MicroSD slot on the Hua works out of the box with OpenWRT?
Which version should I use?? I guess I have to use nightlys?
I have seen that some of them brick the device, so if you can recommend me a known good release, that would be appreciated.

(i have taobao agent too)

and is there any tutorial how to solder pins for serial so it looks like this board
http://img01.taobaocdn.com/imgextra/i1/ … 977064.jpg

They glued the header in place and ran increadibly fine cable from the solder pads to it. You will see them if you look hard enough.
Personally, I would have thought it made more sense to run them to a socket fixed through the wall of the box (best place - depending on what else you do would be above the ethernet socket. You can glue the serial socket and cut a tidy hole above the ethernet hole in the case.

Is it possible to broadcast dvb-t channel(s) over network (USB tuner based on IT9135 chipset) using this router and openwrt ?

the mumuDVB project should do that  http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/Mumudvb

with this how to, http://mumudvb.braice.net/mumudrupal/node/36 written for the Linksys NSLU2 it should be possible to install it on WR703n which has better speccs. maybe additional space is needed.

http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/DVB-T_USB_Devices

Thanks very much. Which version of kernel is in openwrt for WR703N ? In wiki looks like IT9135 is supported since kernel 3.2.

yes and the weight is under 100g ~~ 5$
open in google chrome,and on right sidebar you have shipping calculator, put small parcel and airmail hk (it is faster 7-14days) and you can even track it or not (cheaper)

Are there any ready firmwares for TL-WR703n with 3G modem support and luci? If I install the image from trunk and try to install packages required for 3g usb modems and luci, the memory will be full even before all required packages are installed. However I know they should fit if the image is compiled with the packages included, how is this done? Is it by some compression, or how? I would appriciate a ready Openwrt firmware with 3G and luci, if someone knows where to find one.

@monotube
Do you have a USB pen flash drive which you can connect to the routers USB port?

@monotube

I've built latest trunk with LuCI  and support for 3G modem (including comgt, luci-proto-3g, usb-modeswitch and usb-modeswitch-data) . The images are down to:

openwrt@h2061450:~/wr703n$ ll -h bin/ar71xx/*wr703n*
-rw-r--r-- 1 openwrt openwrt 3.8M Aug  8 16:39 bin/ar71xx/openwrt-ar71xx-generic-tl-wr703n-v1-squashfs-factory.bin
-rw-r--r-- 1 openwrt openwrt 2.7M Aug  8 16:39 bin/ar71xx/openwrt-ar71xx-generic-tl-wr703n-v1-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin

If you like to get the images, tell me.

If those images still to big, you have to play with extroot [1] & [2] and a USB flash pen drive. Tell me also, and I can build you an image with extroot as well.

I would prefer to not use extroot or install separate packages on external flash drive, because by my experiece it is not a reliable solution, because the filesystem on the flash drive can quite easily become corrupt, much easier than the filesystem of the internal flash memory.

@written_direcon:
I would really like to try your images, could you upload them somewhere?

@monotube
Here you can download the images: wr703n-trunk-33055

Hi all,
I was looking at purchasing wr703n, I have the Thomson speedtouch 330 usb adsl modem (powered only from usb no external power works with trunk), does anyone think it will work with the power supply on these small units?
Sorry if its off topic smile

@written_direcon: unfortunately the image is not working because at least kmod-usb-serial and kmod-usb-serial-wwan (and maybe kmod-usb-serial-option) are missing.. Maybe I should try compiling myself, it shouldn't be so hard?

@monotube

I've updated the image. Same download location. Yeah, isn't to hard to build it by yourself if you've access to a Linux box.

openwrt buildroot works well with W7 and virtualbox, I use ubuntu as my guest O/S

Works fine with VMPlayer on W7 also.

I tried compiling and it went fine, however I didn't find Luci packages anywhere in the make menuconfig. Can someone explain in which menu they can be found?

You mostly forgot:

./scripts/feeds update packages luci
./scripts/feeds install -a -p luci

Then run 'make menuconfig' again and you should see LuCI in menuconfig.

Hi Guys, I'm having some problems with my openwrt installation.

I've got a wr703n chinese clone called "Fast FWR171-3G" managed to install open Wrt on it (tl-wr703n version) but I can't actually get any web interface.

I can connect via Telnet first then set passwd and connect via SSH (with putty) but I can't really do anything more.

At first I had wireless working but after an Hard Reset it's disappeared, I can't obviously connect it to internet and install luci.

If I try to go in folders like etc/config/dhcp or network or wifi i see them from ls but i cannot access them or even launch commands like config...
I get this "-ash: config: not found"

These are my specs:
