i built my own image with luci and usb-modeswitch included but forgot comgt and chat tongue
i installed that from snapshot repository through scp and connected my zte mf110 modem.
it's running great with the exception of the bug above
which might prove fatal during daily run so until is fixed i recommend to use dyq workaround - vi /etc/inittab and remove 'ttyS0::askfirst:/bin/ash --login
Great job dyq and juhosg !!!!

LE: I recompiled today with comgt+chat=> 3G ready image: http://freestorage.ro/rqvt0evrix3j

Dear all:
Please give I some help.

I flash the openwrt bin and it work, and when I flash back to the tp-link bin file wr703nv1.bin, it doesn't work!
May be I make a mistake : I unselected the "save setting" when I flash wr703nv1.bin.

After finished flash, the 703N reboot, and I when I connect to 192.168.1.1 the 703 display a line:

LuCI - Lua Configuration Interface

and jump to http://192.168.1.1/cgi-bin/luci

and it display login fail and some thing I may should to just like the "Caps Lock" and reset.

When ping 192.168.1.1 I can get reply, so I use tftp to write wr703nv1.bin to 192.168.1.1
but it say "Timeout occurred",  I type

tftp -i 192.168.1.1 PUT wr703nv1.bin

the wr703nv1.bin file is at current directory.

Thanks a lot.

Hi:

My 3G network card has one Micro-SD slot, so may be I can install some software in it and when I use the 3G network card to connect internet,
it mean the 703N still work in 3G mode, and it can give an USB disk to store file, or swap file, so I can run a light httpd?
I didn't fine how to add the USB support in openwrt.
The 3G network card is HUAWEI EC1261, I'm not sure it can find outside of China.

Thanks.

I've created a wiki page for this device now that we're all up and running on it. It's only quite brief at the moment, so please feel free to add to it.

http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/tl-wr703n

Thanks

Sam

Hello all,
how can i make the reset button pressed for 5 seconds to reset to default?

I think you want the "restorefactory" package installed.

Thanks

Sam

Hey folks,

I have flashed a wrong openwrt image on wr703n and it is bricked. LAN/WAN port does not come active. Any ideas how to un-brick it?

Will get the serial connection working in a few days, hopefully I can activate LAN with that and flash new firmware through tftpboot, but I have to find right memory locations for that. Any ideas?

I also have a similar issue - i forgot to install  "restorefactory" package.
I borrowed my 703n to one of my friends for the weekend and he messed things up - setted other subent/config/wireless password/dhcp server.
Now I cannot connect ot the router - wifi has password and i cannot break it and lan is not responding to 192.168.1.1 pings - static ip set to my pc.
http://wiki.openwrt.org/doc/howto/gener … wrt.method is not working - router isn't booting factory defaults even if holding reset button pressed for 60 sec.
how to recover my 703n without serial now??

first option - boot_wait is not set - although I already tried to flash with tftp without luck
JTAG is not available on this platform.
my new serial console is due to arrive two weeks from now smile
I'll try tonight with the old serial cable - but is quite damaged.

Hey, you have manure between you ears? boot_wait is some CFE variable!

With uboot try "bootdelay" instead: http://wiki.openwrt.org/doc/techref/boo … .variables

How do you know, it's not set?

In case you know for sure, one could emphysize on the wiki-page for the device, to manually set the variable, because it has not hardware-button and triggering failsafe isn't possible.

I'll leave that task to people who own such a device.

Thanks so much for your effort.
The flash is so small and want to keep the desired modules after using "restorefactory", tried to build image by myself. I tried to do it from branch r28369 and modify the makefile with changeset 28279 manually.   I encountered the following errors "[mktplinkfw] *** error: unknown/unsupported board id "TL-WR703Nv1"  during image building.   Please advise.

no need to modify makefile with change set 28279 manually.
just checkout latest trunk and should work - at least the default build - with extra modules like usb-serial and hso it fails also for me.
i'm trying now with a lower changeset like 28294 - latest entry for 703n.

good luck!

Thanks ! The trunk has TL-WR703N integrated.   How can I install the package "restorefactory" to let the image bultio-in with it? "./scripts/feeds install restorefactory" does not work.

make menuconfig
select ar 71xx, then platform TL-703n
then
Utilities -> scrol down to restorefactory and check it with *

I just got a WR703N today and want to use OpenWRT on it, I already used on WR841ND v7 which I built myself.
Is that I just need to make menuconfig and change the profile then run make again to get the image for WR703N which share  same options (except WR703N specific) as my original configuration?
I have PPTP, QoS and NTP turned on my original WR841ND v7 configuration.

run make menuconfig
select ar71xx ->tl-wr703n
then packges that you need like luci ->colletions -> luci
use /  to find locations for yuor needed packges
pptp
qos
ntp
then run "make V=99" to build your image with default packages compiled

the only thing that works on my router is telnet. can someone post a firmware that i can use "wget" to copy it to the router so i can write it and restore it back to something that works please?
it'd be greatly appreciated.

or a way to flash with only telnet?

faramisimo, download from internet winscp, telnet the 703n and enter the command
passwd new_pass
from winscp connect to 703n to port 22, protocol scp (don't get scared by the initial warnings)
transfer to 703n's /tmp my build image http://ubuntuone.com/6ojc2uAmCOVR43Utw2q5pZ and close scp
now ssh to 703n with root and new_pass and enter the following command
sysupgrade -n /tmp/openwrt-ar71xx-generic-tl-wr703n-v1-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin
wait to finish and for device to reboot and you'll have luci (webinterface)
smile good luck

thanks maurer, that was very helpful. also i would like to say very nice work. why arent these posted on wrt for download? looks like it's finished.

one question, this file has the usb for 3g working ?

@faramisimo,
yes, i've build it to start a 3G connection and wifi with factory defaults.
3G credentials are from vodafone Romania so you need to change it smile
@r32190
i hope you read and followed steps 1 to 6 http://wiki.openwrt.org/doc/howto/buildroot.exigence
then:

make menuconfig
select ar 71xx, then platform TL-703n
