Re: TP Link WR1043ND 11n gigabit router

An "ultimate router" (called by TP-Link) with 4MB/16MB would be ridiculous and there's the 941ND too.

Re: TP Link WR1043ND 11n gigabit router

Just wanted to confirm that as of r19853 (at least), a build works fine on my WR1043ND, including vlans and coming up on 192.168.1.1 by default.

Thanks all!

I'm not saying that a 7.8M file will fit in a 4MB flash.

That's what I meant. If they are still making 7.8M firmware files available on their site then it's not very likely they've reduced the size of the flash chip. wink
Which would be  a shame indeed!

Re: TP Link WR1043ND 11n gigabit router

I built a pretty decent binary for myself, but I'm still missing proper MLPPP functionality. A couple of Canadian independent ISP's are starting to package the stable build with their own rewrite http://www.fw5.net/ but my WAN settings don't have any MLPPP options like their flavor of OpenWRT http://www.fw5.net/docs.php. Their source code is at http://www.fw5.net/releases/source/ Is there a way for me to jack some of it for my Kamikaze build? What would I have to do to pull it off? I'm sorry if my questions sound a bit idiotic, but as I said, my experience level is low but I hope to be able to pull it off with help.. Lots and lots of help.

Re: TP Link WR1043ND 11n gigabit router

Because someone asked, I put my trunk build of r19853 here.  Note that in a couple of days the snapshots at http://downloads.openwrt.org/snapshots/trunk/ar71xx/  should be updated and will be at least as good if not better.

Re: TP Link WR1043ND 11n gigabit router

I build Kamikaze r19880 with luci interface, here is http://e51.xf.cz/wrt/index.php?path=tl- … %2Fr19880/
it works quite  good.

Re: TP Link WR1043ND 11n gigabit router

I've read that a serial cable for Siemens C25 cell phones should be useful to debrick my router.

dmesg tells me it's PL2303 based.
Pin 1     white     grnd
Pin 3     red        shows 4,9V
Pin 5     green     0,0 V
Pin 6     blue       3,36 V

Everything else isn't used.

I wonder whether this will work.

The WR1043ND-board has 4 pins but do I need all 4?

Re: TP Link WR1043ND 11n gigabit router

To flash on the latest firmware, put xwrt. But the WiFi was not working and wanted to return to the original firmware (probably it was my mistake) from the menu xwrt -> System -> update -> and the like started flashing and now the LAN 1, 2, 3, 4 and WAN blink. Cable serial no, that can sdelat return back to original firmware WITHOUT opening router.

Re: TP Link WR1043ND 11n gigabit router

@danu2000 You should have read the wiki...

Cut first 0x20200 bytes from original firmware
dd if=orig.bin of=tplink.bin skip=257 bs=512

and flash via uboot or mtd

Which means that you should not have been flashing from x-wrt and that you should have modified the stock firmware file before flashing. You can try to enter failsafe mode and still flash via MTD but chances are pretty good that you will have to open it up and do some soldering.

FiReSTaRT wrote:

Does this mean that future releases of openwrt can't be flashed from x-wrt either? Or does it only go wrong with the stock firmware because the re-flash is not incorporated in openwrt yet?

Datacable for Nokia 6210, 6250, 6310, 6310i, 7110 ????? ?????????????

Re: TP Link WR1043ND 11n gigabit router

Or any of the ones available on the TP-Link site.
I've flashed "TL-WR1043ND_V1_091118" without a problem on my new 1043ND (v1.4) to upgrade the fw it came with.

Re: TP Link WR1043ND 11n gigabit router

Can someone update the wiki because I don't know whether I have to connect  to all 4 Pins for the serial console and whether I connect the right cables.

The IC in your USB data cable is powered by USB, therefore you only need to connect Rx, Tx, and Ground.

Hi,
this is only valid if you still have the original firmware.
Follow the wiki or the post by FireStarter( which are the same) to revert back to the original firmware after applying openwrt.

Guys I know it is very tempting to apply the original firmware without following the instructions, i've been there.
For our own good read the wiki or ask before.

The guys here are very helpful.

Re: TP Link WR1043ND 11n gigabit router

I would highly appreciate if someone could try actually using an usb stick and see if it works reliable, my unit hiccups as soon as a try to format a usb stick (tried both 1Gb and 8Gb) or just a simple copy/write operation.

I/O errors and "device descriptor read/64, error -71" are the error messages I get in dmesg

r19885

Daniel

Re: TP Link WR1043ND 11n gigabit router

@diizzy

SVN commits 19877-19880 implement an entirely new automount feature. I haven't tried it just yet, but if you're encountering problems, you might want to submit a bug ticket and/or revert to r19876.

Re: TP Link WR1043ND 11n gigabit router

I've briefly glanced over the vlan.patch from the post #42 and I've seen that there's a fixed VLAN configuration in the function rtl8366rb_switch_reset (file rtl8366rb_smi.c) with VLANs 1 and 2. I'm wondering whether this is so because of hardware constraints, or can the VLAN setup of the ports of the TL-WR1043ND be reconfigured by changing the switch setup in the said function?

Re: TP Link WR1043ND 11n gigabit router

@asmodis

See post #310. New switch drivers have been added to trunk.

Re: TP Link WR1043ND 11n gigabit router

It would be nice though for someone else to test so I can pin down the issue. As for the issue it doesn't seem to be automount related at all.

Daniel

Re: TP Link WR1043ND 11n gigabit router

Hi, I installed the snapshot from r19880 on my router (v1.4), I got it to work as a WPA2-PSK AP but with iperf I get at most 60mbps from a wireless station to a gigabit ethernet box, and 95mbps the other way around, while with the original firmware I get 120-150mpbs.
On my laptop I can see that most of the packets are sent at 300mbps, but the speed is still low.
Do you have any idea about the cause?
Thanks,

Luca

Re: TP Link WR1043ND 11n gigabit router

@Luca It could be the experimental Atheros driver. I guess they still need to clean up the code a bit.

Re: TP Link WR1043ND 11n gigabit router

guys, I did a stupid thing by having opkg remove all the packages, thus my router is semi bricked. I have the serial cable connected and I can get into failsafe mode but where do I go from here? I can't seem to get a usb stick mounted so I can reflash and I'm not real sure about the uboot method. Can anybody point me to some instructions on how to reflash via uboot? What I have read refers to figuring out the size of the image - I'm not real sure about this step. I have shibby's build loaded. How do I dig myself out??
