Greetings all,

I'm new to openWRT and would like to request some advice about installing it on a Fonera 2.0n FON2303A.

The specifications of this devise are quite generous for the price (£85):-

CPU: Ralink 300MHz
RAM: 64MB
Flash: 8MB
Wifi SoC: Ralink 3052 (802.11n)
USB: Ralink

With regards to kernel support, how do the Ralink components compare to the Atheros ones used in previous Fon devices?

Thanks for your time,
Leslie

The platform does not have an open source wireless driver.

Freedom haters!

Thank you for your reply.

Can anyone recommend a good wireless (does not have to be 'n') router with at least 1x WAN 4x 10/100MB that is fully supported (including open source drivers) by openWRT?

you could use an openwrt fork which has allready added the ralink drivers to the openwrt source found on svn.fonosfera.org
it's correct that these drivers are not opensourced by Ralink and thus not backported...
But you can add all openwrt/luci feeds/packages and compile your openwrt firmware for it...

There is a version available of OpenWrt compiled for Fonera 2.0n (2303) and it is working pretty well. The site is in italian, but can be easily translated to english by google translator.
