Topic: Cable modem as cable TV box

I have an extra Linksys cable mode unit. I wonder if it is possible to turn its coax port as a digital cableTV port (with a QAM256 support) to stream digital cable channels. Then, use its RJ45 port to stream all cable channels to the LAN. Can OpenWRT do this?

I don't understand: are you trying to force DOCSIS modem to intercept standard TV audio/video channels and dump them to a mpeg (or whatever) stream ? No. it is impossible - your cable hardware is capable only of QAM/QPSK demodulation.
If you intend to develop a openwrt-based PVR device use some sort of tv-card.

Including device manufacturer and type would make understanding much easier.
