Topic: wireless LED on when radio is off?

I have been testing out kamikaze 2.4 for broadcom, and I noticed the radio LED stays on after the radio is turned off.  I am using 'wifi down' to disable the radio.  ifconfig shows the interface is down, and clients can no longer see the ssid.  Is there a way to turn off the led when the radio is disabled?  I know I can use another LED to show the radio status, but I am hoping to use the other LEDs for other purposes...

Looks like I can use the old gpio utility to disable the led, and it comes on by itself when the radio is activated again.
