I'm confused about the latest release of OpenWrt. For instance, when I checked my devices toh page it supports version of 22.03.4 but also OpenWrt Firmware Selector shows me latest version 23.05. So, which is which? Should I install the update anyway?
It should be supported by 23.05.x just fine, it's a rather straight forward ipq40xx device after all.
Updating the wiki articles is a rather tedious task (it's supposed to be updated in bulk, for 'all' devices, but there are many reasons why this might fail and then needs manual updating), which can easily lag behind.
You should do as the message says: "upgrade without keeping config", then redo the configuration by hand.
