Hi guys:
I use zyxel gs1900-8 (RTL8380M) as a bridge firewall with openwrt 22.03.2.
But when I copy file between vlan , the bandwidth maxmium about 20Mb/s.
I use top command and found cpu high .
8 2 root RW 0 0% 78% [ksoftirqd/0]
865 2 root IW 0 0% 14% [kworker/0:2-eve]
and kernel eth0 interrupts increase rapidly.
root@OpenWrt:/# cat /proc/interrupts

Is RTL8380M chip performance poor ?
This is a switch, not a firewall or router. So yes: the performance of the SoC is poor, as it is only meant for management/configuration purposes.
This question has been asked (and answered) several times in this forum, please search next time:
It's a switch, not a router (and advanced offloading features are still pending and mostly apply to rtl839x and rtl93xx, much less to rtl838x).
Well, it is a switch - that's what it has been designed for
OpenWrt works pretty well on rtl838x, the basic features (VLAN management, etc.) are working pretty well and DSA allows access to quite a few advanced features (via iproute2, ip, tc, etc.), but luci hasn't really been optimized for switch use (beyond VLAN management), yet. Running OpenWrt you do gain real security support (I don't think we'd need to discuss the security of OEM's kernel v2.6.19 and it doesn't stop there) and a un…
