Zbt we826 t 16m

Hello forum, my first post so please be nice :slightly_smiling_face:
I just got myself one of them we-826 T and as I understood, it is 16M version. So I searched and found: https://openwrt.org/toh/hwdata/zbt/zbt_we826t_16m and it seams to be the exact box I have. From there I found: https://openwrt.org/toh/zbtlink/we-826 and ofc there is a build that matches my box, downloaded and installed it, boots out of the box without any major quirks.
I have 3 question about this:

  1. Leds cant be controlled, found this post that have a fix, not really sure how to apply it: ZBT WE826-T2 Missing led configuration - #10 by TonyB_IT and yes, leds are crazy strong so lights up an entire room with epilepsylights...
  2. Interface is kinda slow and laggy, was woundering if there are benifits or the option to not run the web interface at all? any performance gains with running ssh only ?
  3. I'm pretty much gonna have same usecase for this box all the time, and was thinking I could have a build that does pretty much only that: SIM-card and occasionally use WAN-port, ethports should act as a hub and be routed through SIM/WAN interface, also I would like wireguard to run as client, but not push all the data through, but be able to communicate with a specific machine.

So in my head, it will perform better without the web interface, and run only the things needed for my scenarios?

Listing some output:

Probably installed packages that aren't needed, but this is the current system.

Provide the output of ls /sys/class/leds/

  • You gain the me memory/CPUs used to tun the web GUI's server
  • Did you enable Packet Steereing?

screen246

Install the packages you need into the firmware (BTW, you can omit the LuCi web GUI if you desire):

I made a new build with packet selector...10 tries to get everything working :smile:
Also enabled packet steering and it more then doubled speed, so that was the thingy.

ls /sys/class/leds/
green:power              green:wifi               rt2800soc-phy0::quality
green:usb                rt2800soc-phy0::assoc    rt2800soc-phy0::radio

tried echo none to them files, but I dont get any changes in leds; thus found that post were it was b0rked and needed to be patched. I did read it from this post: ZBT WE826-T2 Missing led configuration - #8 by TonyB_IT

I wanted you to verify they exist. You configure them in /etc/config/system

Example to turn green:power light off - in case you never tried:

config led
        option name 'Power'
        option sysfs 'green:power'
        option trigger 'none'
        option default '0'

Hope this helps.

Only managed to get wifi stop blinking, other ones does not respond to commands.

  • That's what you wanted, correct?
  • No clue what commands to you keep referencing
  • Did you make a config for every single one - as the example?

I don't understand what you mean by "commands" - given you previously incorrectly used echo on the command line - and it's now understood you have to configure the lights in the system config file.

From /etc/config/system, but its only the wifi that stops blinking, I just want to shut all the leds down and dont have the lights.

config led 'led_wifi_led'
	option name 'wifi'
	option sysfs 'green:wifi'
	option trigger 'none'
	option default '0'

config led
	option name 'Power'
	option sysfs 'green:power'
	option trigger 'none'
	option default '0'

config led
	option name 'usb'
	option sysfs 'green:usb'
	option trigger 'none'
	option default '0'

config led
	option name '1'
	option sysfs 'rt2800soc-phy0::assoc'
	option trigger 'none'
	option default '0'

config led
	option sysfs 'rt2800soc-phy0::quality'
	option trigger 'none'
	option default '0'
	option name '0'

config led
	option name 'radio'
	option sysfs 'rt2800soc-phy0::radio'
	option trigger 'none'
	option default '0'

Please describe what lights. Be specific.

Did the power light go off?

Maybe a picture?

Powerlight is still on, usb is constantly blinking but assume that might be because SIM-module is on usb?

Did you run /etc/init.d/system reload after the config changes?

Yes, even tried reboot.
Max size is so small so I cant upload video or picture; but basicly light are on and I would prefer them all off :slight_smile:
