This is the read only memory (ROM) of the firmware. It´s always 100% used on OpenWrt.
About 4MB of 16MB flash leaves much space for the persistent read/write rootfs overlay partition.

Reflash a sysupgrade image and if this does not work, please post the kernel boot log.

I'll try another sysupgrade flash once I get back home in a couple of days - I'm currently on a trip, and this was supposed to be my "travel" router. I don't have my compiled firmware files with me. But like I said, I have already done the sysupgrade once. I can post the current kernel log if you think that would help.

Judging by the lots of errors saying -EROFS. Is the sector locked? it looks like your image was built on a bad day, and the master version had a bug then. It should be fixed in the latest master:

Try building again with the latest openwrt master.

Just noticed that you're on a trip and can't compile the firmware. If you want a valid image, I can provide one that I compiled today and works for me.

Thanks for the offer, but I'll be OK for the next 2 days - I do have anoyher router with me which works OK off an (older) stable version. Also I want the compiled image to have built-in various bits and pieces to support my VPN provider, so I'll just make another one on Saturday. But again thanks.

Quick update, Iet my laptop compile a new sysupgrade overnight, flashed it this morning and the problem is fixed. Errors gone and settings persist. Thank you all.

It's another fake. Such sellers sell cheap A4 and get 30%-50% profit. I had screenshots on GearBest and couldn't succeed in a dispute. My seller changed specs after certain sold "original" 3G and closed the store later. In my opinion it's better to have a look for T-Mobile AC1900 on Amazon and convert it easy to AC68u with Merlin.

Chinese version of r4 come with 128mb nanflash.

i had some stabbility issues - i was disconnected from my work vpn sometimes - one or two lag pings could be found when i was seaching for issue then
i upgraded to vesion relased 15.02.2020 and it is fixed so guess was some bug in previous that i had (from 12 jan )

just for futue reades if someone else had some small lag issues sometimes can try :wink:

I see that you sold 3wires at RX-TX-GND can i use this 3 wires to have a USB storage (that i want to say is,if it supports usb protocol)

I think you got it wrong, It is SERIAL communication support for terminal via USB to Serial CH341 dongle.

so, no USB header pin/test pad in this router, no USB storage function.
