X86/64 sysupgrade losing settings (F2FS)?

the ext4 image could suffer from this:

This seems to be an unfortunate interaction between some recent ext4 patches that went into all LTS kernels (4.4, 4.9, 4.14). but then the squashfs+f2fs should not have the same issues.

Sysupgrade also says Image metadata not found consistently. Sysupgrade on non-x86 devices so far has worked fine for me (upgraded to the same build on ramips & ar71xx devices).

There's no metadata appended to any x86 images yet. So this message can it ignored (for now).
