WRT3200ACM won't start properly after fresh openwrt install

Hi everybody,
I've got a Linksys WRT3200ACM ok under linksys firmware1.0.8.199531.
But I prefer openwrt so I installed openwrt-19.07.7-mvebu-cortexa9-linksys_wrt3200acm-squashfs-factory.img (or openwrt-21.02.0-rc1-mvebu-cortexa9-linksys_wrt3200acm-squashfs-factory.img) with the OEM update procedure.
the openwrt boot, I monitor with tcpdump from my linux gateway.
my dhcpd gives it a fixed ip address, then I see the ntp request (to [1,3].openwrt.pool.ntp.org). But after this step, nothing appends, no more traffic, no sshd nore httpd server, nothing opened...
I try the 10 sec. long reset.
I go back to oem linksys with the 3 resets procedure, flashed 21.02.0-rc1 with no more succes.
Any idea what I've done wrong? Thanks for your help!

which ethernet ports did you use ?

and your existing subnet isn't by any chance 192.168.1 ?

I tried INTERNET (the eth0 yellow one) but also the first of the 4 port switch (as I read some have more success with it, but not me)
No, I'm 192.168.2.0/24 in my internal home network.

And If I let it boot without any link, I supposed it will take 192.168.1.1 as default ip. Then with a direct link with my laptop 192.168.1.2, no more access...

yeah,

if it boots as its supposed to, the LAN side will have 192.168.1.1, with DHCP enabled, any clients connected through the ethernet ports should get an IP assigned.

I got it. I connect the port 1 of the WRT3200 to one ethernet interface of my linux laptop, configured as a dhcp client. The router assigned it 192.168.1.4 So I was able to ssh or http://192.168.1.1 an set all my config. Thanks!
