WRT1900AC V1 Optimize wifi?

Is there any software packages or settings that will optimize the wifi for the wrt1900ac v1?

Fast wired/ routing performance, but challenging wlan drivers - with zero hope for future improvements. Depending on your environment it might work well, but if you have esp8266 based (IoT-) devices or have any intention to use 802.11w, WPA3 or other broken features, you'll most likely be out of luck. The WRT1900AC v1 uses a much older (less common) mvebu chipset (without NEON support), unless it's very cheap I wouldn't look there. For new devices (full price), the price delta is small enough …

Thanks for the reply! I have a direct fiber line ran into home. What router would you recommend for competive gaming? we have 3 pcs hardwired , several phones and game consoles and a smart tv using wifi.

If the router you have works well enough for the wired side (and thereby the system you care most about in terms of performance), keep it - disable its wireless and get a better (well working, ideally OpenWrt supported-) wireless router to cover the wireless side (https://openwrt.org/docs/guide-user/network/wifi/dumbap).
