it's not an "openwrt 1200AC users" problem. it's an hardware problem. it do the same with the OEM firmware.
And yes, it's a bad production batch. linksys will change the ram vendor in the future.

If that is the case, they need to put a public news advice on their page, acknowledge the issue, and offer any customer a free new router with new ram of the other vendor... It is not acceptable to let the customer in the dark with this kind of issue.
You can try flashing a released LEDE image for Raspberry Pi 3 B+, this strong ARM toy should run faster than wrt1200ac
Sure Pi3B+ is quite nice, if you don't want to use it as fileserver. The 100-150MB/s on the esata connection on a WRT 1200ac is still a strong selling point.
Well, I also have Odroid XU4. This single-board computer has gigabyte internet port wired on its USB 3.0 hub, and USB 3.0 ports should provide a lot faster speed. In fact, it also has an even better CPU compared to Pi 3 B+. Apparently, there is no OpenWRT support for this single-board computer, and 802.11ac USB 3.0 wifi dongles (such as rtl8812au chipset) as well.
After a discussion with Linksys R & D, Linksys confirms a problem on this router because of the heat. No solution for the moment. The impacted boxes are replaced in RMA. A V3 will probably correct the problem.
Was a V3 ever released so far?
