Writing image to an SD card

I'm trying to write a 17.01.4 image to a MicroSD card to use in my Pi 3 and having no luck on my Mac getting it to work. I've tried dd and Etcher, neither of which are producing a bootable SD card in the Pi. Dug around here on the forums and in the docs and haven't found any recommendations. Any help would be appreciated.

The image I'm using is: lede-17.01.4-brcm2708-bcm2710-rpi-3-ext4-sdcard.img

I had problems too, just try using a Debian dd or Windows win32diskimager
