Hi @varu, thanks for the patch.

I finally made WAN work.
It seems the patch has some outdated dts properties and was not working correctly in master.
I sent a PR upstream to include the device in master.[
Pleas can you upload the files to flash a new unit I recently bought?
@ogry, I uploaded the bin in the release of my repository
Can you test it and report.
Well, I don't know what else to do. I request help.
I have connected my PC with Debain 12 via a standard Ethernet cable to the LAN port of the router (I have also tried connecting it to the WAN port) The router is loaded with firmware M72HP3_V230525
I have configured the connection on the corresponding interface (enp0s31f6) with IPV4 at the fixed address 192.168.10.100/255.255.0.0 and without a gateway (it takes 192.168.10.1 by default)
I have configured a tftpd server to serve files from srv/tftp
I have copied to that directory the file that I have downloaded from the indicated repository (https://github.com/ianchi/openwrt/releases/download/wavlink1200-v0.1/openwrt-ramips-mt7620-wavlink_wl-wn572hg3-squashfs- sysupgrade.bin) by copying it with the name 'firmware.bin' to srv/tftp
I have also tried it with (https://downloads.openwrt.org/releases/23.05.4/targets/ramips/mt7621/openwrt-23.05.4-ramips-mt7621-wavlink_ws-wn572hp3-4g-initramfs-kernel.bin) , thinking it was an initial step.
I have verified that I can connect and download that file from the root with $ tftp 192.168.10.100 -c get firmware.bin
I initialize the router by keeping the reset button pressed for exactly 10 seconds after turning it on (I have tried from releasing it as soon as the lights come on to leaving it until they come back on for the second time).
I can't get Openwrt to load, it doesn't seem to change anything, after a couple of minutes, the WAVLINK-AC and WAVLINK-N SSIDs appear and I can only access the WAVLINK configuration page at https://192.168.10.1 to perform the initial configuration. Sometimes I have seen other SSIDs (WAVLINK, WAVLINK-MESH, and others)
What I can be doing wrong?

Definitely desperate, I renamed the firmware kernel file following the manufacturer's regulations, as WINSTAR_WN572HP3-A-R2-M72HP3_V230526-WO-4611b6e-GD_BY_FM and uploaded it to the corresponding interface. After restarting the status LED it keeps flashing very fast for quite some time. But nothing else happens, I'm afraid it has been blocked.
Frustrated, I'm already at the stage where I grab screwdrivers and socket wrenches and take everything apart.
Once I have the board, I reconnect the antennas, I don't want the delicate final amplifiers to be damaged.
I have soldered a connector to the serial port. In my experience it is the best way to be sure that the tracks will survive the many tests that lie ahead.
I am using a simple USB Serial with the everlasting PL2303 chip
Using TX-TX, RX-RX and connecting GND and +3.3V I get some lights to turn on, but it does not do the same as when it is turned on from the POE
In PuTTY, I connect it following the documentation. I only see garbage.
When it is connected and I turn on from POE I see that the converter heats up and disappears from the PC device list.
I remove the 3.3V connection, and leave only the data lines and ground.
Now, when I turn it on from the POE it initializes completely (well, at least some light turns on)
I change the configuration to 115200, 8n1
In the PuTTY console I finally see something I understand.

I still have to get it to fully charge and communicate with the network, but the road is promising.
I have the same problem, I can't put the
OPENWRT for nothing I've been trying for a few hours.
I just successfully tftpbooted and flashed this pre-release on my WL-572HG3 REV.A router. Following the steps noted above it booted just fine, although only ssh worked in the tftpbooted image. LuCI only worked after flashing. Keep in mind that you need v0.2 because in v0.1 you cannot ssh into the router as it does not allow empty passwords.
Here is how I did it:
v0.2firmware.bin192.168.10.100, Netmask:24 Gateway:192.168.10.1)192.168.1.100, Netmask:24 Gateway:192.168.1.1)ping 192.168.1.1 nowssh root@192.168.1.1 nowcat firmware.bin | ssh root@192.168.1.1 -C "cat > /tmp/firmware.bin"md5sum firmware.bin on the Computer has to give the same output as md5sum /tmp/firmware.bin on the ssh command line on OpenWRT), in my case d4b30e1f70189a74bd3a8b6f1b159778 /tmp/firmware.binsysupgrade -n /tmp/firmware.bin which immediately closes all connections and takes quite a while, the power was on while the highest wifi signal led was blinkingEDIT: I have not jet tested if everything works, just successfully flashed and booted it, used ssh and LuCI. Be careful as this is a pre-release, it is still work in progress.
I recently received a WL-WN572HP3, and I was wondering if anyone has successfully installed OpenWRT on this model. I know this discussion is about WL-WN572HG3, and it seems like they might be similar, but I canāt confirm the exact hardware specs at the moment
Unfortunately, I donāt have physical access to the device right now to open it up and check the chipset, but as soon as I can, I will do that. In the meantime, has anyone tried flashing OpenWRT on WN572HP3?
P.S. I just contacted Wavlink support and asked them directly about the technical differences between WL-WN572HP3 and WL-WN572HG3, specifically regarding the processor, flash memory, RAM, and other hardware details. As soon as they reply, Iāll be able to confirm or disprove whether the two versions are identical
Hereās what they told me:
Chipset:
Flash Memory:
Ethernet Ports:
Operating Modes:
So it looks like there are some significant differences between the two models. I'm going to check chip specifications to find out if there is a compatible model that already supports OpenWRT, to try to build the firmware.
P.S.: I found a discussion specifically about my model: OpenWRT support for WL-WN572HP3.
From what I understand, WS-WN572HP3 4G and WL-WN572HP3 are almost identical, except that the WS-WN572HP3 4G version has an LTE modem, which my model doesnāt have
Since OpenWRT is already available for WS-WN572HP3 4G, it might be possible to use the same firmware on WL-WN572HP3. To free up space, unnecessary 4G-related packages like:
kmod-usb3kmod-usb-net-rndiscomgt-ncmDo you still have it easily available? I currently have it attached using the stock firmware to a managed switch but was thinking of adding it to my mesh network, but canāt figure out if it has 802.1s mesh capabilities once the correct WPAD is installed or 802.1r for fast roaming. If you can easily access the device still I was wondering if you might have a look first before I have a go with your instructions. I donāt think unencrypted meshes need any specific WPAD but havenāt ever had a look before installing WPAD-Mesh-SSH instead of the basic one used by default in OpenWRT.
Are You working on this project, any update in the future?
I have 2 Wavlink successfully flashed with Your posted method and all worked OK except software manager, here is not possible to update or install any package.
Thanks
