Will OpenWrt support TP-Link Archer C20 AC750 v6?

Hello everyone and please excuse me as I am a completely new to OpenWrt - it's my first time using / considering using OpenWrt ever.

I recently purchased TP-Link Archer C20 AC750. The seller did not stated explicitly that this is the 6th version so I thought it might be an older version (1/4/5) but it wasn't. Now i'm stuck with the 6th version and considering to return it to the store as it currently unsupported by OpenWrt.

Is there any expectation that OpenWrt will support this device in the nearest future? (Otherwise, I must return it to the store because I have no use for it)

Thank you for your response

forum search feature is your friend: Port request for TP-LINK Archer C20(IN) v6.8 - #21 by aakash-pro

The device is in general "supportable" - as linked thread shows 5GHz configuration block is in different place than on V5. If you are not an expert programmer able to easily write off bricked device - proceed with that return.

I'm far away from an expert  I returned it to the store. Thank you. I hope i'll find another device that it's easier to flash, something that is good enough for beginners

You can make a new query stating where you are and what is your budget and someone else will run through web stores to find you the best match. eg 40-50$ Cudy WR3000? where available.

I live in Israel and it's extremely hard to find a supported device locally... I'll need to order one online from Europe or the USA, and this might take a while. That TP-Link router was the closest option and the least expensive one (it was on sale), but I was too afraid to be left with non-functioning and irreplaceable router.
Perhaps i'll order the OpenWrt One router but I am not sure whether it is a good solution in my case or not (Is it user-friendly for newbies like me?)

eg https://www.ivory.co.il/catalog.php?id=83073 52EUR, would be 40-45 in EU

You have to strictly set "indoor" bit https://git.w1.fi/cgit/hostap/tree/hostapd/hostapd.conf#n111

OpenWrt One is good for a hobbyist, thre are a bit better general purpose routers with more network ports, even faster wifi etc.

I found it while I searched for it on https://toh.openwrt.org/?view=normal

That is pretty standard - 2 antennas in each band, you can not claim "better signal with beamforming" with one antenna. No USB port (no printer or 4G/5G backup) , nice it has wall mount holes on the back.

Thank you very much for your help!! :folded_hands:
I hope it will be the one
I might give a try to the one you found too, i'll take a look at it and compare between them.

I actually don't use the router for wifi to be honest
I am using it to connect with cables
My wife is using Wi-Fi but she doesn't care about the strength as long as it works, we mostly use wired connections

Usually you assign rfkill to some spare button like WPS, so you can switch radio on and off as needed. It is a bit later than the initial installation.
