Wiki vandalism?

What's up with this? That doesn't look right to me...

More like lousy fingers...

It could be inadvertent finger trouble, it happens.
BUT, I have had similar (with a completely unrelated document) where someone reverted to an old document, then proceeded to add a lot of AI hallucinations.
Things can rapidly degenerate into a repeated cycle of editing/restoring - not good.

The problem is that there is no moderation, but of course, no-one wants to be a moderator.
At the time I suggested the original author be given a notification before changes are accepted, then they can approve or disapprove. But if they do neither within a time limit, it is assumed to be accepted. Or some similar process.

AFAIK this is possible in Discourse the wiki server, but my suggestion was not taken any further.
EDIT: Is it running on DokuWik? If so then I'm wrong - no moderation functionality exists....

EDIT 2: Revert. If it gets reverted back then it is not finger trouble.

I reverted it.
If they change it back again then it was not finger trouble.

I’m thinking they came via GitHub creds. The User doesn’t seem to be reg’d here, but is on GitHub: https://github.com/lissandrozuniga10-dot

You can sort-of do that with the publish plugin (https://www.dokuwiki.org/plugin:publish).

Access via Github is the only way nowadays, asking for a wiki account is not aswered.

See: Applying for OpenWrt wiki account - #489 by RaylynnKnight

Not the way I read it: Applying for OpenWrt wiki account and FTR, I used my GitHub account several years ago to acquire my wiki access.

My bent in posting my opinion was to focus on the ramifications and perils that come with un-moderated access to the wiki as @efahl has learned.

I fully agree about the danger of unmoderated access to the wiki.

But I and a lot of others have repeatedly asked for a wiki account during weeks/months and no reaction whatsoever so in reality the only way to get access to the wiki is the github account and that works instantly and of course is not moderated :frowning:

A different user, same page. Looks like this may be becoming a problem.

Google the phone number - a prominent self-promoting spñmmer.

eg https://github.com/golang/go/issues/75937

Yes it is. What other documents have been effected, I wonder?

i have reverted it again.

We should look at this....
Who has rights to do server changes/mods/plugin_installs?

@thess

(A few years ago he asked for wiki admin volunteers in the L3 thread - I and others volunteered, but never received a response.)

Maybe remove those offenders and stop new wiki access with github account for the time being?
Not sure if you can stop new wiki access with github accountant, you probably do not want to stop existing users apart from the offenders

We need moderation and depending on people to do the moderation would work for a little while but then, sooner or later, it would fall off again regardless of good intentions.

Something like he "Publish" plugin could probably be made to do "auto-moderation" on the lines I suggested earlier ie the previous author(s) get a notification when someone edits (they do now), then the author can approve or disapprove. If they do neither, after some timeout (48 hours?), the edit gets auto-approved....

Sure, but we need them to install the plugin.
