WiFiDog Gateway Implementation on a VM

I am working on WiFiDog Authentication for Ruijie AP and I need to setup a NAS which will work as gateway between AP and Auth Server (Using WiFiDog Auth Laravel Github repo).

Can anyone please help/guide me how to achieve this. I want to host a VM on the same subnet as my Ruijie AP.

Much appreciated.

I have tried to assign nas-ip to Ruijie AP and there is no way to check the log of requests made or how authentication is working. I can't check logs if nas-ip is set to Ruijie AP IP. I want to setup a NAS VM server.

Apart from very few minor patches to keep it compiling, WifiDog has been unmaintained since 2015. In its current state, it will not function on OpenWrt without a lot of messing around and even then will not work correctly.

So the question is, why are you even trying to work with it?
Are you trying to fix a failed commercial implementation?

@bluewavenet Thank you for replying to this post.

I am not working on OpenWRT Router. I already implemented the openNDS with your help on OpenWRT supported hardware.

I have a Ruijie AP for which I need to enable and config WiFiDog Authentication. I had a lot of confusion how to approach and if I should create a NAS to work as a gateway between AP and client.

I know this question isn't related to openWRT but I came to this forum to find some support from anyone who might have worked on this or anything similar.

I think the Ruijie devices are officially supported so why not reflash and go to openNDS?
Otherwise, you will have to ask Ruijie, although you are very unlikely to to get anywhere with it for the same reasons - WiFiDog is very old and unmaintained.

@bluewavenet

The device I have is not supported by OpenWRT to be flashed. I tried that. I did reach out to Ruijie support but they don't seem to be much supportive unless device is connected to cloud AP mode.

Then swap it out for something that is... unless of course you are trying to fix a failed commercial implementation.... and you have hundreds of them.

If the Ruijie is running as an AP ie a non-routing AP (aka Dumb AP), you cannot run a captive portal on it anyway. The way forward is to add an OpenWrt router with openNDS and connect the AP to it.

I did not read this before. A Network Attached Storage device (NAS) will not help you at all with this..... What do you mean by NAS?
